Q1 [17 marks]

(a) Sketch the symbols for the following electrical/electronic parts. (4 marks)

(i) Tapped with adjustable contact resistor (ii) Loop antenna (iii) Temperature dependent diode (iv) Triode electron tube

(b) Explain the meaning of the symbols shown in Figure 1. Use sketches in your answer. (6 marks)

(c) (i) Draw a parabola with a vertical axis and the focus 12 mm from the directrix. Find at least nine points on the curve (including the vertex point). (5 marks)

(ii) Construct a tangent through a point M, which lies at the intersection of the parabola and the line inclined at an angle of 60o to the horizontal and passing through the focus. (1 marks)

(iii) Construct a normal to the parabola at point M. (1 marks)

Q2 [20 marks]

The front and the right side views of two objects are shown in Figure 2(i) and Figure 2(ii). Choose one of the two Figures and perform the following:

(a) Draw the given views of the chosen figure (either (i) or (ii)) (4 marks) (b) Add the top view. (10 marks)

(c) Sketch the isometric view of the object. (6 marks)

Q3 [18 marks] The front and right side views of two objects are given in Figure 3(i) and Figure 3(ii). Choose one of the two figures and:

Q5 [25 marks] The components of a C-clamp are shown in Figure 5. The cutting plane of the assembled

components is perpendicular to the direction of arrow A, and passes through the centre of the screw and pin. Based on the given information, perform the following:

(a) Draw the fully assembled top view of the device. (8 marks) (b) Draw the front sectional view of the assembly looking in the direction of the arrow A. (15 marks) (c) Provide the bill of materials. (2 marks) Assume any dimension not given. Dimensions are in millimeters.
