HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAMMES

A free health check-up camp was organised in collaboration with Medicity and Pushpagiri Medical College Thiruvalla on 19th November for the High School and Higher Secondary classes. In connection with SEWA (Social Empowerment through Work Education and Action) an endeavour by CBSE, First Aid Awareness programme was conducted for classes X and XII.

The first General Body Meeting was held on 9th June 2018. Rev. Fr. Sebastian Punnassery, director of Charity World was the chief guest of the day. PTA functions very effectively and Sri Sajan Joy continues as the PTA President.

To rejuvenate and rekindle the students spiritually, annual retreat for classes V to XII was conducted on 3rd November. Rev. Fr. Paul Vengassery. Asst.Vicar of pulinkunnu, a well known preacher and Sr. Jacily CMC invoked the students to love parents and God.

World Environmental Day was celebrated on 5th June for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment. Two thousand saplings were distributed to students who planted at their homes.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

The co-curricular activities like Yoga, Karate, Skating, Cricket, Football, kalaripayattu, Drawing, Art &Craft, Dance and Music make the students healthy and industrious for today’s challenging world. To inculcate cultural, literary, moral values and leadership qualities various clubs function very successfully in our school. Morning assembly at AKM is a chance for the students to get a disciplined, good social behaviour, to develop love for their school and a sense of unity.

The poor Fund collection and the profit gained from food stall by the students of class XI during Sports day was handed over to the representatives of various charitable organizations. As directed by the CBSE Kottayam Sahodaya our

school collected an amount of Rs.30,000 for the flood victims. An amount of Rs 50,000 was donated to the needy persons.The school contributed around Rs 8 lakhs to educate the needy students.

The 72nd Independence Day was celebrated in our school on 14th August, with variety entertainment programmes. The students were exhorted to work for the unity and integrity of the nation and to uphold unity in diversity. The Principal’s feast was celebrated on 26th July in a grand manner with variety entertainment programmes.

On Teachers’Day variety programmes were conducted by the students of Standard X and XII to pay homage to teachers, the architects of the society. Following the principles of Gandhiji, a ‘SwachhBhavan’ campaign was organized and the students cleaned the campus and surrounding, spreading the message of clean enviornment. The children’s day was celebrated in a grand manner with variety entertainment programmes and a colourful rally. The chief guests were Sri Dony Thomas Varghese, the Magistrate Municif of Changanacherry and Sri Rajesh, Legal Secretary.

It is a matter of pride that in the Inter School Basket ball tournament held at Mar.Baselios Public School Kottayam, AKM was Runner Up in the senior & junior category. The promising players were Master Prithin Murali and Master George K Rajeev. In the football 3x3 tournament held at Placid Vidya Vihar, AKM was runner up. In the All Kerala Inter School Basket Ball Tournament under 17 Boys, held at St.Anne’s Kurianad, AKM was the Runner Up. Congratulations to the team members.

The Annual Sports Day was celebrated on 15th & 16th November with enthusiasm and vigour. It included track events among the four houses and culminated with a march past.

During the flood a relief camp was set up and 242 people were accommodated in the school. The camp adjuged the best in the area and it was run with the support of the well wishers and AKM staff.

The class topper badge was given to the top scorer and class perfect badge was given to the best, well behaved, service minded and disciplined students in the first term. Best Samaritan award was given to the best outgoing student of STD X and XII who showed extra ordinary concern for others.
