The operator of emergency vehicles in today’s society carries a heavy responsibility. The penalty for not adequately training your operators also carries legal consequences. Emergency vehicle operators and the enes they represent have been held both crimi- nally and civilly responsible for their acons. This program was developed to teach the emergency vehicle operator (EVO) proper driving technique, the mental as well as the physical aspects of the driving task. The program points out the long-term impact of an accident involving an emergency vehicle on the operator, the emergency service organizaon and the community in which they serve. Instructor: As an instructor, parcipants are provided with the knowledge and tools to deliver the student-level course. An instructor’s guide, the PowerPoint program, and instructor resources are provided. This course focuses on Instructor methodology and program delivery. Program includes: 1. Idenfying the problems in emergency vehicle operaons 2. Movang the emergency vehicle operator to perform professionally 3. Legal aspects of Emergency Vehicle Operaons 4. Vehicle components and technology 5. Physical forces acng upon the vehicle 6. Performing vehicle inspecon and maintenance 7. Legal and regulatory requirements of SOGs 8. EVOC Train the Trainer Courses to Maine.

Important: After the completion of the Train the Trainer

programs and after September 16th, 2018, the Maine Fire

Service Institute will no longer be able accept progress

charts for programs that are instructed by personnel who

have not attended the updated (2016) VFIS Train the

Trainer programs.
