1) Compare this to Morocco earlier remarked in Act 2.1 line 31-34in act 2.7 some god direct my judgment! the prince ofMorocco is saying that god would

lead him to the right caskets where he could get the love of Portia. However he was kind of

still hesitating of choosing the 3 different caskets while in act 2.1 yea,mock the lion when a

roars for prey. To win a lady ..and die with grieving here, he was really confiden t of

choosing the casket which had Portias picture and he said that even if the bet for being

wrong was that he had to fight with a lion, he wouldnt be scared as for the love of Portia.

2) Find the Evidence from Act 1.1 to prove that the lady is who many man desire?

In Act 1.1 line 161-176, it proves that the lady is who many men desire as in Bassanios

opinion. Portia is fair and uses manner words. He describes Portias hair, temples and all her

belonging as a GOLDEN FLEECE . He knows her by her speechless message that he had

seen her in the pass. He considers that Portia is really the girl who many men desire and it is

true.

3) How do the words of the scroll provide and appropriate answer to the reasoning which leadMorocco to his choice?

The word scroll provides an appropriate answer to the reasoning which leads Morocco to his

choice. As he was choosing the caskets only because of the appearance, he said that it

would be impossible for a beautiful girl picture located in the lead caskets. In his opinion

lead is not worth it but gold is so he chooses gold for he believes his fortune of getting her is

in the gold. We know there is a quote of dont judge a book from its cover. Here, this

quote is really accurate for Moroccos attitude. This also describes the theme appearance

VS Reality

4) It is more difficult to understand how the skull inside is appropriate given the inscription ofthe outside can you think of any possible connection between the two?

In Act 2.7 A carrion death, within whose empty eye there is written scroll. I`ll read the

writing . Here, Morocco was kind of shock when he opened the golden caskets. He found

out there was a skull. We could imagine that a skull would be surrounded by worms as they

ate up the meat when we died. The scroll was alarming the reader that looks may not be as

it may be worth. This is the point to understand that Mens desires are always dangerous.

5) How does the manner of Morocco departure contrast with that of his arrival?The evidence cold indeed,and labour lost. Then farewell heat, and welcome

frost!.Portia,adieu. I have to grieved a heart to take a tedious leave . thus losers part. Here,

his leaving is such a pity. He loses his chance of getting Portia and will not marry any oneelse for all of his life. His failure of choosing the right casket ends his moments of entrance

at the beginning of the competition. While his arrival is such bombastic that he is 100%sure

of getting Portia for his wife, he suffers from the consequences of his choice, gold over the

reality.
