Protect the historic building, preserve cultural heritage,

and promote visual and performing arts experiences

to our community and visitors to the region.

Learning Experiences The NACC is a home for learning, and sharing arts and cultural learning experiences with people of all ages.

The NACC is a home for cultures, bringing together people of all

race, religion, color, gender, national origin, disability, sexual

orientation, age, education, geographic origin and skill sets.

Designed by William Ittner and built in 1924, this classic revival building served as Niagara Falls' Central High School until 2000 when a new school building was built. Slated for demolition, the

NACC was rescued by a grassroots community coalition, Save Our Sites in Niagara Falls, Inc.

The NACC continues to grow as an education center offering adult and children classes to the public. Summer programs for kids offer an array of art, music, dance, and technology classes to

area elementary, middle and high school students.

The NACC has seven part-time staff, and two full time staff members. It is supported by volunteers

RENOVATING OUR GRAND THEATER

Renovations are necessary to provide new cultural offerings in Niagara Falls and improve the conditions provided to artists, technicians, and performers working in the space. These changes allow for larger productions and entertainment offerings, better technical capabilities, and enhanced audience experience. Concerts, Theatrical Performances, Opera, Film Showings, Recitals, Symposiums, and more will be able to take in the renovated theater. Summer productions or other uses of the theater will be possible with a new heating and ventilation system.

The theater will become a larger presence in the Niagara Region, creating new opportunities for businesses and restaurants to serve the theater-going public in Niagara Falls and the surrounding areas. The underutilized theater when restored would add to the growing arts scene in the Buffalo/Niagara region.

The renovations within the theater will include a historic restoration of the space, enhanced seating and handicapped access, the expansion of the stage, and new technical implements including lighting, sound and rigging. The extensive renovation of the theater will include new seats, improved sightlines and a heating and air conditioning system that will vastly improve patrons comfort while enjoying the show. In addition we plan to renovate restrooms, and provide a new green room, makeup and dressing rooms, and a renovated lobby and concession area. To accomplish all of this, the NACC is working with Flynn Battaglia Architects and Swiatek Preservation Studio of Buffalo NY.
