Leader Training Patrol Leader Training The age group of the training is 14-18. The training contains 6 months long preparatory term, a 10 days long camp, and a 3 months long follow up term. Main topics: The patrol leaders will be the chief of a gang – the patrol, who know the difference between the cheerful and the considerate. They will be the “president” of the patrol, give occasions for meeting, give tools for playing and learning by doing, pay attention for everybody and make a lot of funny events for the patrol. They know the answer for the question: “How?” How do I knot a knot? How do I build a tent? How can we use the compass? How can we pray alone or in a community? How could I be a useful member of a team – a patrol? Fit to use to be the chief of gang. Hungarian Scouting today Basic Elements The hungarian scout training system is based on the Gilwell-system. Thus our trainings has three main parts. Pre-exercises and test: the tests of knowledge about the scouting, about the way of thinking about scouting and about the knowledge that became the basic for the training Training: the training when the cadets get knowledge, viewpoints, thinking methods and meeting with the new level of the leading Post-exercises and testing in the reality: the practical phase, where they become temporary leaders to test their knowl- edge within real circumstances with a tutor who is a leader on the actually level. At the end of this phase he/she could be a leader on a higher level. Besides the three main training scourses there are exist special scout leader trainings such as Cub Scout Leader Training, Troop Leader Traing, the Water Scout Leader Training os the Scout Leader Trainers’ Training. Assistant Scoutmaster Training The age group of the training is scouts over 18. The training contains a 8 months long preparatory term, a 11 days long camp and a 6 months long follow up term. Main topics: The Assistant Scoutmasters are the adult leaders for education who know the answer for the question: “Why?” Why do we go to have a camp? Why do we learn about the knots? Why do we go hiking or camping? Why do we want to use different toolkits and exercises in different age sections? Fit to use as the Unit Leader Badge: shell badge and silver leaf The meaning of the shell badge is a secret. Scoutmaster Training The age group of the training is scouts over 21 (after ASM) The training contains 10 days of homework and 6 weekends (1 of them is a trip to other NSOs (PPÖ, HSAiS) Main topics: They are the leaders and managers of the associations. They are the face of the scouting in the countries or in the organisations. They are the executive chief of the organisations. They are the international or national commissioners of the organisations. etc. They should know the answer for the question: “Where? Where should we go to reach our vision? Where are the places to work with youth? Where are the places of scouting in this country or in life of this nation?” They make strategies, tactics, toolkits and directions for all of the leaders.
