Introduction

BWPS is school situated in a High Socio-Economic area and achieves very good results compare to the state average.

On closer inspection we saw we were not catering to all of our students

% of Students 1 year or more below expected level

Direction for Change

Clearly students are not reaching potential.

Staff knowledge and skills were proving insufficient to be able to deal with literacy

issues.

So what changed……. Rewrote the school curriculum documents, phonics,

spelling, writing, morphology and currently mathematics.

A huge amount of PD for staff from ADA/LDA. Jodi Clements and Lorraine Hammond.

All school decisions are based on research.

MSL (Structured Literacy) pedagogy through explicit instruction

Parent support group – empowering parents and students

BYOD IPAD for identified students.
