Dysfunctional describes something that does not work, A dysfunctional family is one that does not meet the needs of all members.

These members cannot forgive and forget.

The children are left to raise themselves, and the parents are unable or unwilling to get involved in their children's lives.

A family needs love and communication, they also need shelter.

Survival, families need to provide each other with life's necessities.

Safety and security. Members of families should feel safe.

Family members need to be loved Self-esteem. Having high self-esteem means you

feel important. Growth. Everyone needs to grow and change. Failure to meet these needs can mean, that a

family is Dysfunctional.

Dysfunctional families have more problems that are more complicated and harder to solve.

Some issues are more difficult to recognize.

These families may have what it needs to survive but they may not have what they need to be happy.

Some issues are easier to recognized. These families may have parents that

may be alcoholics Or loud and violent. In these families few needs are met. People don’t feel safe in these families. They may try to hide their problems

but they are easy to see.

Relation to Twisted.

In Twisted Tyler’s family is dysfunctional.

The mother and father fight almost all the time.

The kids normally are left to fend for themselves.

each other

Tyler gets into trouble a lot, which is a sign of a dysfunctional family.

We chose to do this project of Dysfunctional families because, this is a main topic in Twisted. Also because this topic seems to be a problem in our country.

Results of survey- we conducted a survey of the students at West Seneca West senior high school to see if they have a dysfunctional family.

More people said that they still live with their parents and that their parents are still married. More people said that their parents are home often. Also the majority of students said that their parents work late only sometimes.

More people said that they do not have low self-esteem and that they don’t feel they are alone at home. Most students said they are home often.

Almost half of the students said that their parents don’t drink or smoke. Almost half of the students said that they don’t drink or smoke.

75% of students said that they do well in school. More students said they participated in after school activities.

When asked about family, The majority of students say they get along with their family, but when it comes to siblings they only get along with them sometimes. More students said that they feel they can talk to their parents about their issues.

According to our results less students are considered to have a dysfunctional family.

A dysfunctional family is one that does not met the needs of every one in the family, a child that feels lonely, or has low self- esteem may have a dysfunctional family. A child’s parent that smokes or drinks, along with ignoring them are considered to have a dysfunctional family.

According to our survey less students are considered to have a dysfunctional family.

NOTE: just because some answers apply to one person does not mean that their family is dysfunctional, having multiple answers may mean they have a dysfunctional family.
