Dynamic Virtual Networks – Interconnect
Applications are now highly distributed, composed of loosely coupled, late-binding components that are served up by any number of data centers and cloud services. Mobile edge computing is driving new requirements for fast and efficient provisioning of network connectivity that reduces latency and improves application performance. Enterprises and service providers are looking for new ways to improve the return on investment in their networks and reduce operational costs.
CPLANE Dynamic Virtual Networks Interconnect (DVNi) delivers high performance Layer 2 and Layer 3 virtual private networks (VPN) utilizing fast and efficient Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS). MPLS creates robust and resilient backbone networks that provide a variety of class of service (CoS) and quality of service (QoS) features.
DVNi eliminates the complexity typically associated with the design and operation of MPLS wide area network services by incorporating all the functions and capabilities required to implement fully-managed service workflows into a single pane of glass.
Starting with workflow creation and service level specification design, DVNi builds a set of rich service level abstractions, which are then translated into vendor-independent service level specifications. These specifications are applied against network behavior abstractions such as topology and demand tracking, device capabilities, admission control, traffic shaping and bandwidth management.
The resulting service element workflows are then programmatically applied using sophisticated transactional semantics including what-if modeling, pre-commitment validation and workflow rollback to ensure network integrity and reliability.

DVNi Uses multi-commodity flow formulation to find globally optimal primary paths, resulting in route optimization that meets all specified constraints and minimizes use of network resources. DVNi also uses constrained shortest path (CSPF) algorithms for calculating primary paths. Constraints take into consideration bandwidth availability and include/exclude affinities. Modified constrained shortest path algorithms are used for calculating backup paths for a given set of primary paths. Backup paths are disjoint as possible with primaries.
DVNi is a complete MPLS and L2/L3 VPN automation and provisioning system. DVNi auto-discovers existing MPLS devices and builds a complete network model of the entire network. LSPs can then be created through an intuitive drag and drop interface, or created automatically via a full mesh. The output of the traffic engineering creates new trunk specifications which are used to create sophisticated provisioning workflows. These workflows can optionally be validated before commitment, with full rollback capabilities. VPNs are also created through an intuitive interface with full quality of service and bandwidth management, including admission control to prevent oversubscription.
