DYNAMIC & OFFENSIVE Active trip Bangladesh. (20 days) Cycling, hiking, yoga and canoeing – explore Bangladesh dynamically, offensively and together with others. This three-week tour includes many elements of an activity trip, but also leaves time for the regeneration and the processing of the experiences. Not only do you visit an original and fascinating other country, you’ll “conquer” the life in all its colour that often takes place on the street. In the northeastern part of the country – the country’s tea region – we will explore the beautiful area mainly by bicycle. We will explore the Chittagong Hill Tracts, the “mountain world” of Bangladesh in the southeast, on foot and in between, on one of the most beautiful rivers of the country, canoeing. You will meet silent, stony witnesses of history, as lively and lively as the present. Scenic highlights are paired with religious traditions, the everyday life of the village communities with the life of mega-metropolises. Everywhere you will find traditional agriculture and fishing, in the cities crafts and trade are still as public as at the time when the British conquered the country. In other words: there are a lot of impressions and experiences waiting for you, which cannot replace a newspaper report and a TV broadcast. Bangladesh will reward you with unrivaled impressions and experiences that you will participate in a journey far from the standard tourist paths!

Date Itinerary

Day 1 Sunday

“Welcome in Dhaka! Crowds and Markets” Arrival in Dhaka! After transfer to your accommodation, the first steps in Dhaka. Visit the largest and most traditional market of Dhaka, the Kawran Bazar, with craft and trade still partially as publicly as in the days when the British conquered the country and ruled. In the evening tour meeting at the official dinner. Good night in the fastest growing city in Asia, Dhaka.

Day 2 - 4 Mon - Wed

“About rainforest, tea and bicycles” In the early morning hours you will travel towards the north east. On your way you will visit the manufactories and markets of the area, in the late afternoon you will reach your first stop - Srimangal. On the morning of the 3rd day you will go on a half-day hiking tour in the Lawachara National Park, where you will also visit a village of a minority living here. In the second half of the day, you will cycle through the fantastic area. Also on the 4th day you cycle through a beautiful landscape and village communities. Our yoga teacher will happily relax you in the breaks... Pleasant dreams in the "tea capital" of the country.

Day 5 - 7 Thu - Sat

“Where is Bangladesh most beautiful...” In the morning you continue to the north-east to the border with India. During the journey to your second stop, visit the local crafts and markets. In the late afternoon you will reach Lalakhal, a small village nestled on the Jaintia Hills, the last foothills of the Himalayas. Day 6 will take you on a kayak trip on one of the most beautiful rivers in the country. At the resort in Lalakhal please arrange your hand baggage. Your main luggage is located on the evening of the 8th day in Chittagong. You will spend the whole Day 7 on a trip to the stone-fishermen of Jaflon. These carry the scree and rocks, from the rivers, under fairly archaic circumstances. Sleep well in Lalakhal!

Day 8 Sunday

“From North to South East” In the morning continue to Sylhet, from there continue to Dhaka and afterwards to Chittagong where you will be, all foreseeable, to land around 4:00 pm. Just enough time to look around in the metropolis. Chittagong was once called “the sleeping beauty of mists and waters”. The surroundings of the metropolis still suggest this at least but the second-largest city in the country today is more a special economic zone, the largest seaport in Bangladesh and one of the fastest growing cities in the world. Good night in Chittagong.

Day 9 - 13 Mon - Fri

“The iron eater of Chittagong. In the Chittagong Hill Tracts” This morning, your main attention will be the ship breaking yard, which is one of the world’s centers of the scrapping industry and offers spectacular insights into working life – especially in your boat trip. In the afternoon, you will continue to the Chittagong Hill Tracts, a semi-autonomous area with a topography and culture that is untypical for Bangladesh. There is an idyllic landscape formed by the Karnaphuli, Feni, Shangu and Matamuhur rivers. The gentle mountains, once steeped in dense rainforest, steep gorges, dense bamboo and teakwood forests are very sparsely populated and represent the home of ethnic groups (the so called “Jumma tribes”). Your current destination is Bandarban, starting point for your hikes through the closer environment on the 10th and 11th day. On the 12th day you continue to Rangamati, which is the starting point for your hike on the 13th day. Yet at the hotel in Rangamati arrange your hand baggage please. Your main luggage is located on the evening of day 14 in Dhaka. Pleasant dreams in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

Day 14 Saturday

“Adventure Bangladesh Railway” In the morning departure to Chittagong, from there by train back to the capital, which you will reach in the late afternoon. A railway network in the delta region of Bangladesh was regarded as unrealisable for a long time. Founded in 1885, the Assam Bengal Railway overcame these almost insoluble problems. Even if the “dingy factor” is high, the train is the perfect means of transport to get in touch with the locals and travel by train has style, because every car has its own steward and the tea is available in porcelain cups! Good night in Dhaka.

Day 15 Sunday

“In the heart of the Moloch, Old-Dhaka” Discover Old Dhaka, an all-devouring black hole ... you roam through the impenetrable maze of streets, always accompanied by the ringing of countless rickshaws and visit some of the main points as the Hindu

Street, Pink Palace, Armenian Church and Tara Masjid. With the riverboat we are moving in the Ganges delta, Morrelganj is our port of destination. Yet at the hotel in Dhaka arrange your hand baggage. Your main luggage is located on the 16th day on our Sundarbans ship. Pleasant dreams in your first class cabin on the ship.

Day 16 Monday

“Move – by riverboat to Morrelganj. UNESCO World Heritage Site² Part 1: Bagerhat” Not until the early afternoon you will reach, after a contemplative journey, Morrelganj. So you have enough time to observe the rural life in Bangladesh from aboard can. With a little patience you can observe Ganges river dolphins, rare Irrawaddy dolphins. After arrival, you travel further and reach - after a stay in the World Heritage Bagerhat - towards evening the port of Mongla, gateway to the Ganges Delta. Dinner and overnight camp or in our small cruise ship in the port of Mongla.

Day 17 - 19 Tue - Thu

“UNESCO World Heritage Site² Part 2: In the largest delta of the earth – the Sundarbans” In the early morning of the 17th day you embark and arrive in the late afternoon, a game warden station in the southeastern part of the Sundarbans. On the morning of the 18th day watching the awakening life from the dinghy, deep in one of the lateral branches. After breakfast, walk towards the pristine beach of Bay of Bengal. In the afternoon, embark on a jungle hike. With nightfall, and in time for the barbecue dinner you are back on board. On the morning of the 19th day, take the opposite course towards Mongla. Arrival in the late afternoon, then return to Dhaka. Good night last time in Dhaka/Bangladesh.

Day 20 Friday

“Have a safe trip home!” Airport transfer and farewell of our guests. We wish a good flight home. End of the tour.
