Updating Commission Information
If you need to change/modify/update any of the information in the Settings screen (Shipper
Name, Address, Contact Name, Zip Code, and Phone), then select Update in bottom left corner
& then choose Send.
Note: If you are changing your Shipper ID #, then you will need to re‐commission.
URC Update
It is recommended that you periodically/monthly Check Mail (see Check Mail above) for updates
to a new Version of URC. These updates are sent automatically and performing a Check Mail
will update the URC.
Modifying Flex
FLEX is an escalated insurance for each shipment, which can be added to the existing shipping
account contract. It offers coverage for items ineligible for standard carrier liability programs
such as event tickets and negotiable instruments. Flexible Parcel Insurance also enables you to
insure for values greater than the actual value of the item you are shipping. Refer to your
corresponding UPS Representative to understand what particular products fall under FLEX.
8/7/2019 Dydacomp Multichannel Order Manager and UPS Link
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/dydacomp-multichannel-order-manager-and-ups-link 24/46
24
There are 3 types of FLEX that are supported by our software: Basic, Expanded & Time In
Transit. When enabling flex, you need to perform a Check Mail to activate. (See Check Mail
above).
Address Validation
Address Validation is a free service from UPS. Once this is activated, each shipment’s address is
sent through UPS for validation and the zip code will be validated with a zip + 4. The address
validation is then used for future shipments from that address. Perform a Check Mail to read
the validated address(es). (see Check Mail above)
Note: If a particular address is validated by UPS any changes made manually to the address,
then the address will not be valid by UPS.

Daily Use
Printing UPS compatible box labels or COD tags in M.O.M.
1. When using a Thermal Printer, make sure an ELTRON ORION thermal printer is
used. Remember that if you will be using the special Laser Packing slip with one
label (purchased from Software Forms) this thermal printer is only used for the
creation of remaining box labels or COD tags that do not print initially on the special
packing slips. In addition, this thermal printer uses a parallel (LPT) port & not a serial
(COM) port and is set up as follows in Maintain, System Information, Global
Parameters, Printer Output tab:

station.

Re Send PLD File
This option allows a successful PLD file on a particular commissioned station to be re‐sent to
UPS. If Mail Order Manager successfully sends the UPS shipping information (the PLD file) to
UPS and UPS does not receive the information, UPS will request the information to be sent
again. Choosing ‘Re‐Send PLD File’ will display a list of the successful PLD files sent by date.
Highlight the date that needs to be resent and click the Re‐Send button.

33
Create AUF Diskette
If a PLD file transmission has failed on a particular commissioned station for a specific
amount of time, Choosing ‘Create AUF Diskette’ will display a list of all PLD files sent by date,
successful or not.
• When choosing ‘Create AUF Diskette’, Mail Order Manager will create a
subfolder in MOMWIN called AUF. In the AUF folder Mail Order manager will
create a *.msg file and control.ups file.
• Use a utility such as Winzip to zip (compress) the 2 files. The suggested name
for the zip file is AUF.zip.
• Email the files to the necessary UPS Personnel.
Reprint Manifest
This option gives a list of ALL sent and un‐sent PLD files. The screen is similar to that
in Re‐send PLD File. This can be done from any commissioned station. When a user
commissions a workstation with UPS Online Compatible Software more than once
and tries to reprint a manifest, MOM will show a dropdown of the different Mailbox
IDs to allow all old manifests from older Mailbox IDs to be reprinted.
Voiding a Package
This option is only available:
• For orders having a ship date within 24 hours of the attempted void.
• By selecting the View/Edit button on the Packing tab of an order and not by
resetting the order.
Once voided, the package data will be sent to UPS as a voided package. These voids
will not be included as part of the Driver Summary Barcode Report.
When Should I Void a Package?
Typically, packages are voided when a customer changes their mind about their order after
the PLD was uploaded to UPS, but before the package is picked up. For example, on a given
day, Mr. Shipit processes shipments at 12 noon. The customer calls at 2 PM to change their
order (different item, different shipping method, cancels entire order, etc.). Realizing the
package data was already sent to UPS but the driver hasn’t taken it yet, Mr. Shipit voids the
package.

1. From the Packaging tab of an order, highlight a box and select the View/Edit Box
button.
2. The Edit Box Information screen will be displayed. Select the Void Package option.

35
3. A message will appear to alert you that this procedure will open your web browser
and asks if you wish to continue. Select Yes.
Warning: Voiding a package is final. If the package shipped, and UPS accounted
for it, you will be billed for that shipment. Any attempt to void a package that
was actually shipped will be billed for the full amount by UPS.
2. Enter any comments about the void that you wish to communicate to UPS in the
provided field, e.g.
“Box was found in the shipping department after the driver left.” Then click OK.
3. Your web browser will open and the new information will be sent to UPS to
update your files to
include the voided package.
4. In the Packing tab of the order, the Status of the package will now read ‘Voided
in UPS.’
Note: Voiding must be done on per package basis.

36
Note: Any attempted voids beyond the 24‐hour limit will fail. Resetting an hour 24
hours after it was shipped will also fail. In these situations, the only available options
would be to create an entirely new order or ship the existing package on the next
pickup.
Using Mail Order Manager to retrieve UPS information about a
package
1. Click on the Packaging tab to display the information about the packages in the
order.
2. Track Package’ button
• If a package from the list has been shipped, highlight it, and click on the ‘Track
Package’ button.
• This will open a web browser to the Tracking page referenced when in the
Shipment URL field of the Shipping Method Maintenance screen, and display
the tracking information about that package, such as status, delivery date and
location and who signed for the package.
Note: To use the ‘Track Package’ button, there must be a connection to the
Internet for the web page to be displayed.

Addendum
Additional Handling
Domestic shipments in the UPS system that require additional handling due to their size or
packaging will be assessed an Additional Handling Charge. The charge applies to:
• Any article not fully encased in an outside shipping container.
• Any article encased in a metal or wood shipping container.
• Cans of pails not fully encased in a corrugated cardboard shipping container.
• Any package over 60 inches long.
Early AM
Early AM is available for Next Day and 2nd Day based on destination. Variation in the time,
whether it is 8AM, 8:30AM, 9AM, etc, will depend on the selected service (Next Day and 2nd
Day) and destination. However, you can change the arrival time in the Package Information
screen if the expected time is later than the default time for that service and destination.
1. From the Packing tab of an order, highlight a box and select the View/Edit Box
button.
2. Adjust the Alt. Delivery Time (½ hour increments) by selecting the up and down
arrows.

Return Services (Call Tag )
If you send a shipment via UPS and then want the shipment to be picked up and returned to
you, request a return service for 1 or 3 attempts. The UPS driver brings the package label to
the pickup location and picks up the package. If the package cannot be picked up on the
first attempt, the driver will attempt to pick up the package on each of the next two
business days. If, after the number of attempts selected, the package has not been picked
up, the driver will leave the label at the pickup location, and the customer must drop the
package off at the UPS customer counter or shipping outlet. You pay for the cost of the
shipping and a per package (not per shipment) return service fee. Refer to your UPS Rate
and Service Guide for current rates and more information.
Note: Return Service can be requested using any shipping method except Next Day.
Select the Call Tag Item button to request a call tag and select the number of attempts.

Main Office. All UPS Return Service labels are produced from the UPS Main Office, not from
M.O.M., with the exception of the ‘Print Return Label’ option, where return labels are
printed locally at the shipper’s station. (See Additional Return Services)

Dimensional Weight This is a standard formula that considers density when determining charges. The calculations
are used to consider the amount of space a package will take up in relation to the actual weight
of the package. Dimensional weight is the billable weight when the dimensional weight of a
package measuring more than one cubic foot exceeds the actual weight. Dimensional weight is
determined by multiplying the package length by the width by the height, then divide by 194
( ( length x width x height)/194 ).
The dimensional weight will only be available for services that involve ‘Air’ (i.e Next Day Air).
Oversize Package Type
A package is considered oversize if:

pounds and the package size dimensions specified in the Length, Width, and Height
