WHAT IS ROOM SERVICE ……?


• ROOM SERVICE:

It implies servicing of food and beverage in guest rooms of hotel small orders are served trays major meals are taken to the rooms on trolleys.

The guest places his order with the room service order taker.

The waiter receives the order and transmits are same to the kitchen .


ROOM SERVICE

In the menu while he prepares his tray or trolleys, he then goes to the cashier to have a cheque prepared to take any along with the food order for the guests signature or payment.

Usually clearance of solid dishes from the room is done either after half an hour or an hour

The guest can telephone room service when finished with the meal


THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF ROOM SERVICE>

CENTRALIZED ROOM SERVICE

Here all the food orders are processed from the main kitchens and sent to the rooms by a common team of waiter.


DECENTRALIZED ROOM SERVICE:

Each floor or a set of floor may have separate pantries to service them orders are taken at a central point by order takes who in turn convey the order to respective pantry.


ROLE OF CASHIER:

Ensure for sending the report on time for work and be well dressed, courteous and tactful in handling guests and customers.

Be familiar with all menu-planning at all outlets so as to ensure all f&b charges are correctly charge and amount collected as per the bill.

Before commencing work at the station they would have to ensure the following.


a) Unlock the lock control of the cashiers machine.

b) Set the table for the date (for first cashier)c) Set the control at the operation positiond) Ensure all stamp pads and rubber stamps are

ready for use.
