Forces of the Netherlands
The Netherlands is a small country, at 16,039 sq mi, it would rank 42nd in U.S. states, larger than Maryland. It has very high population density, with 16.8 million people, which would actually rank fifth of
U.S. states. Population density is about 1049 people per square mile, which would be second in U.S. states
(only behind New Jersey). It has a powerful economy.
The military is modern, and well equipped, but has been transformed (probably appropriately) from a force
designed to halt the Soviets into more of a peacekeeping force. As described in subsequent text, all armored (tank) units have been disbanded.
All units have night vision. Infantry carry 800/200 NVGs, the crews of the G-Wagens and fennek drivers use these sets. The crews of armored vehicles, including Fennek passengers, use sets that all seem to rank
in the 2400/400 to 2100-300 range (these might be identical optics, just testing noise).
All squads can call in both Arty and Air strikes (though this can be lost in combat, perhaps due to
casualties, or perhaps due to comms breakdown). Even a lone truck driver can dismount and call in a
strike.

Leopard 2A6
THE NETHERLANDS ONCE HAD AN IMPRESSIVE 445 LEOPARD 2 TANKS. WITH THE
END OF THE COLD WAR, ALL ARMORED UNITS HAVE BEEN DISBANDED. AS OF
JANUARY 2014, THE LAST OF THESE LEOPARD 2 TANKS HAVE BEEN SOLD (TO
FINLAND, DELIVERIES 2015-2019).
Night Vision: Yes, 2400/300
Ammunition:
120mm: 42 rounds, HEAT, APFSDS (roughly 50/50)
7.62mm: >4k Smoke Salvos: 2
120mm gun, MG3 coax and loader’s hatch. Commander’s video, VUDT, 62.3 tons. Also used by German
(nearly identical) and Canadian (some with slat armor).
German - Dutch differences (smoke grenades and loader’s MG):
4
CV9035
Crew: 3+8
Night Vision: Yes, 2100/300
Ammunition:
35mm KETF: 105, APFSDS: 105
7.62mm: 700 Smoke Salvo: 1?
(For infantry use):
Panzerfaust 3T: 4 (includes one launcher) 40mm HE: 88
7.62mm: >2k
5.56mm: >2k
Only difference is the addition of ERA. Gyrostabilized. VUDT. 2 More Pzfst than normal.
Swedish CV90, export version replacing the Bofors 40mm with a 35mm Bushmaster (versions exist with up to a 120mm gun!). Kinetic Energy Timed Fuze (KETF), programmable bursting ammunition!
Browning .30cal coax. Armor supposed to be able to take 14.5mm, and up to 30mm APFSDS on the front.
Netherlands ordered 193 combat vehicles of this type.
T-62(1975): S, KOB 127m, quickly eliminated, exploded violently after only ~5 hits
T-62MV: R, 135m, quickly caused enough damage to force a dismount
5
YPR 765 PRI, YPR 765 PRI ERA
Crew: 3+7
Night Vision: Yes, 2100/300
Ammunition:
25mm HE-I: 243, APFSDS: 81
7.62mm: >1k (1840? from Wiki) Smoke Salvo: 1, ~40° spread
(For infantry use):
Panzerfaust 3T: 2 (includes a launcher)
40mm HE: 88
7.62mm: 2300?
5.56mm: 2800
Only difference is the addition of ERA. Gyrostabilized. Based on the XM765 made by Ford as an IFV evolution of the M113, but the M2 Bradley was selected for U.S. service instead. Being more simple,
lighter, and less expensive than the Bradley the Netherlands ordered 2079, including 815 they produced
themselves. (Several other countries also placed orders.) The weapon is an Oerlikon 25mm dual feed autocannon. Not located: YPR 765 PRAT (antitank 901 style), YPR 765 PRCO C (command).
6
YPR 765 GN, YPR 765 GN (ERA)
Crew: 2+9
Night Vision: Yes, 2100/300
Ammunition:
12.7mm >1k Smoke Salvo: 1, ~40° spread
(For infantry use):
Panzerfaust 3T: 2 (includes a launcher) 40mm HE: 88
7.62mm: >2k
5.56mm: >2k
Engineer vehicle. Small partial turret with a .50 cal. Higher quality troops get (unpictured) ERA version. An ERA version just won a duel with a BTR, head on, both firing, from 110m; little to no damage to the
YPR. The GN is an English Engineer variant designation, nicknamed “Genie”.
7
Fennek CP, Fennek RECCE, Fennek MRAT
Crew: 3 seats total, varies.
Night Vision: Yes, 800/200 for driver, 2500/400 for infantry onboard. See text.
Ammunition:
12.7mm >1k Smoke Salvo: 2, direct front only
(For infantry use): Gill T-HEAT: 3 (Antitank platoons only, in both the CP and MRAT vehicles.)
Panzerfaust 3T: 2 (includes a launcher)
7.62mm: 400 5.56mm: 500
All show Laser and IR Optics. If the driver is the only person onboard he cannot fire the weapon. Infantry
onboard can use the great night optics and .50 cal; unbuttoned is irrevlenat (can fire and use optics either
way). The vehicle is fairly vulnerable, even to grenades. If the driver is killed infantry (3 men or less)
can take over and operate the vehicle. Other than the AT having Gill missiles onboard, they appear
identical so far except in name.
8
G-Wagen, GMG, HMG, MMG
Crew: 4 seats total, varies.
Night Vision: 800/200 (infantry NVGs)
Ammunition:
GMG HMG MMG
40mm HE: 48, HEDP: 240 12.7mm API: 500 7.62mm: >1k
7.62mm: 700 7.62mm: 700 5.56mm: 750
(For infantry use):
Panzerfaust 3T: 2 (includes a launcher)
7.62mm: 400
5.56mm: 500
Very disappointingly, they do NOT dismount either MG. Unarmed version not yet found in Dutch OOB.
Similar vehicles in German and Canadian service.
9
Antitank Weapons
Spike-MR/ Gill:
Ammunition: Gill T-HEAT: 2
Range: 200 - 2500m
Indoors: NO Night Vision: Yes, 2100/400
Warhead: 170mm
Deploy: 54sec Pack up: 20sec Penetration: unknown, larger LR variant is 700mm RHA
Available: all AT platoons
2 man team. 3 more missiles in each Fennek of the AT
platoon. Uses missiles’ thermal imagers- launcher has
only optical sight. Not only Fire & Forget but can also use fiber optic cable for “Fire, Observe, and Update”.
Can (IRL) launch THEN acquire target, observe, switch
targets, etc. Javelin style top-attack profile. 200m min range makes very hard to use in today’s mostly offensive
urban ops, but Pzfst 3IT fills the gap exceptionally well.
Test Results:
Misses: 569m, 485m, 341m, 297m M1A1HC FEP: F, KOB 276m
T-72M1V: FT, mod - func 367m
ZSU-23-4: Side, KOB 670m Challenger 2 Enhanced, Front, KOB, 406m
T-90SA: F, mod - func, 278m
Summary:
Misses roughly half of the time. The half that hit only eliminate modern armor about half of the time.
Minimum range can be troublesome in close quarters, but night vision allows to engage at night, so doesn’t have the min range/ no night vision problem of the AT-3. While there are better systems out there, this one
is about average for an ATGM.
10
Panzerfaust 3IT
Ammunition: HEAT, 2-4 per vehicle Range: 50-600m according to game manual
Indoors: Yes
Night Vision: unknown, standard infantry 800/200 presumed Warhead: 110mm
Penetration: 900mm RHA, tandem
Available: every infantry vehicle in Dutch service (not the Leopard) has a launcher and 2-4 missiles!
The IT version uses computer aided targeting to give a usable range increase to about 600m and
incorporates a tandem warhead.
Panzerfaust results under combat conditions:
Misses: 122m, 123m (obscured), 129, 145, 121, 127, 364, 392, 341, 157, 450, 341, 365
BTR-60: F, KOB 122m

T-62MV: F, KOB 53m
T-62MV: S, KO 123m BMP-2: F, KOB 30m
T-62(1975): LF, KOB 152m
T-72M1: S, UA but still crewed103m
T-72M1: S, KOB 103m
T-62(1975): F, KOB 120m T-62(1975): RFT, KO 126m
T-72M1: LFT, KOB, violent explosion, 139m
T-62(1975): F, KO 128m BTR-60PB: F, KO 112m
T-72M1: LFT, KOB, violent explosion, 142m
T-90SA: LFT, mod - func, 1/3 KIA, 192m
Summary:
Devastating at close range, misses almost always over 200-300m
11
Small Arms and Support Weapons
C7A1 Rifle: Made by Colt Canada, similar to an M-16A2. 20 inch barrel. C79 3.4x optical sight is
included on the A1 model. This magnified sight can hinder CQB. 30 round magazine. Select fire:
semi & full, 700-900 RPM. 5.56*45mm. These weapons in Dutch service now (2014) have all brown plastic, including the mags, and the ELCAN M79 sight has been replaced by the Aimpoint
Comp M4, an unmagnified red dot sight (which is also a tube sight rather than a simple prism).
C7A1 w/ AG36: While the Canadians use the M203, the Dutch use the German AG36.
C8A1: Carbine version of the C7A1 with a 14.5” barrel. (C8A1 w/ AG36 not found, not in manual.)
12
MINIMI: FN, selectable ROF 700-850 or 950-1150. Generally 5.56*45mm. Basis for U.S. SAW and many others. Can be belt, box, or magazine fed, but the 200 round box is the most common.
FN-MAG: Belgian (Fabrique Nationale - FN)
7.62*51mm NATO MG, model 60-20 (60-40 is a
coax MG). Designed in the early ‘50s. Can use either U.S. disintegrating link or German style non-
disintegrating belts, but some parts must be
swapped. Very widely produced and used, and is the basis for the U.S. M240, many British weapons,
and is very widely used worldwide. 50 round
detachable box. 650-1000 RPM.
M2HB: (G- Wagen, YPR-765 GN mounted only)
13
AWSMF Sniper Rifle: .338 Lapua Magnum, 5 round box magazine, suppressor, night sights. Also
British L115, German G22 (in .300 Winchester). No ammo resupply available. Complicated by possible
ammo sharing but each sniper seems to carry 60+ rounds. In game, performance is miserable even at 300-
400 yards. In tests against prone targets in the open it takes about 30 rounds to get the first kill at 300-400 yards with a regular trained marksman. After the first hit, they come more quickly, but still at a
ridiculously low hit percentage. Effective range is supposed to be 1500m with the 338 (and 1100m with
the 300 Winchester). Against standing targets in the open this may be possible, in the game, untested. IRL, kills have been made out to 2475m, with two shots and kills back to back.
H&K GMG only attached to the G-Wagen and somehow welded on or something.
NR17 frag grenade
NR13 smoke grenade
Don’t use Fennek driver’s to acquire weapons for tests. (They have C8A1, so won’t switch). You must use
another country’s (Syrian) truck drivers with pistols.
14
Night/ Day vision for Dutch troops:
Midnight, overcast, truck and 3 man prone PKM: 800/200 Noon, clear: 3500/400 with binocs, 2500/400 no binocs

The infantry consists of an independent light company only. The company HQ structure is the Commander
and 2IC, and an FO team, all in G-Wagen MMGs. These 12 men all carry C7A1/C8A1, but each truck has a Panzerfaust launcher and two missiles. Each of three platoons has 32 men in 8 G-Wagen inc. 2 with
AGL and FN MAG, 2 with .50 cal MG and FN MAG, and 4 with FN MAG and Minimi. The AT platoon
has twelve men in six, two man Gill teams, plus six drivers in six Fenneks.
Interestingly, ALL squads can call in ANY support unit.
Equip quality: No changes noted.
AT: GOOD, Infantry launched only. The vehicles of the company carry 33 Panzerfaust 3IT and a total of
66 rockets, and the AT Platoon carries six Gill launchers and 5 each Gill missiles (30 missiles total). For a company sized unit, that’s a lot of AT firepower.
Other Heavy Weapons: NONE.
Small Arms: C7A1, C8A1. Night vision: COMPLETE, 800/200m units, plus 2100/400 units on the Gill, plus excellent NV on all
armored vehicles.

Large companies, large battalion, fully armored, great night vision, moderately capable combat vehicles
and AT capability. All together a very capable unit, nearly as good as infantry units get. Only possible
upgrades are heavier support (though the super accurate mortars do fine), better ATGMs for infantry dismounts, crew served heavy weapons for infantry, and ATGMs for the combat vehicles.
Equip quality: Command vehicles are VPRs with or without ERA. The IFVs in the companies are CV-9035s or YPRs, with or without ERA. Units with CV9035s get the added bonus of two additional
Pzfst rockets per IFV.
AT: GOOD, Infantry launched ATMs plus semi-capable autocannons. The battalion’s vehicles carry 68 Panzerfaust 3IT and a total of 136 or 244 Pzfst rockets (higher with CV9035s because they carry
four), and the AT Platoons each carry six Gill launchers and 30 Gill missiles (18 launchers and 90
missiles total battalion). Other Heavy Weapons: NONE.
Small Arms: C7A1, C8A1, AWSMF, plenty of AG36s, a good number of light MGs.
Night vision: COMPLETE, 800/200m units, plus 2100/400 units on the Gill, plus excellent NV on all armored vehicles.
Integrated Support: FAIR, 9* 81mm mortars. Batt gets a FAC, each company gets a FO.

Each rifleman (with a C7A1 only) carries two explosive charges. There are 12 riflemen per platoon (the
other 8 are vehicle crewmen), so 24 explosive charges per platoon, 72 for the company. Other than those riflemen, the other 24 infantrymen of each platoon all carry some type of heavier weapon, there are twice
the number of grenade launchers and twice the number of FN MAG; there are no sniper rifles or AT
platoon. The recon section is three Fennek with 6 lightly armed infantry rather than the battalion level infantry platoon.
Interestingly, ALL squads can call in ANY support unit.
Equip quality: ERA on the GNs for higher quality.

Artillery Support
L16 (81mm mortar) Platoons of two sections of three, totaling six. Also used by British.
PzH 2000 (155 mm self-propelled howitzer) Batteries of six divided into three of two or two of three.
Rather than round, these appear to make a very dense rectangular pattern about 32*16m.
(Originally a 120mm mortar was listed, but not included.)

Fire For Effect time is with a class A spotter, add about 1min for each class lower.
2 guns, heavy, 2 guns medium, etc: this is an approximate time from fire for effect to last round expended.
Radius is an approximate max impact radius, rarely greater, NOT A SAFE DISTANCE!
All squads can call in both Arty and Air strikes (though this can be lost in combat, perhaps due to
casualties, or perhaps due to comms breakdown).
Air support is best through the battalion FAC, with A rating.
155mm is best reached through higher rank echelons, the best found is Bn HQ with a B rating. The guns
respond so quickly it’s under 10 mins even if an F rated truck driver calls it in.
81mm in attached or subordinate is fast. Company or battalion level HQ/ FO units a A rated.
81mm in detached or other units is always slower, Co HQ & FO are B rated, Bn actually is a D rating.
The only A ratings are airstrikes through a FAC, and attached mortars at Co command elements and higher.

Air Support
AH-64D Apache:
LS 30mm M230, see details below
2x Hellfire Missile 30x 2.75” rockets in 4 passes
MS 4x Hellfire Missile 38x 2.75” rockets in 5 passes
Gun loadouts: LS: 10 passes of 40 rounds each = 400 (counted frames), the 30 rockets is also weird because it can only
come from a partially loaded pod (8,8,8,6).
MS: 20 Gun runs est. 800 rounds, rocket passes: 8,8,8,8,6 (2 pods of 19x). This leaves one unused pylon or two Hellfire racks with four empty rails.
Netherlands DOES NOT GET THE COMPLICATED AT LOADOUTS, but is still fairly deadly.
Hellfire tests too slow @ 200m/s. Gun has max capacity of 1200 rounds, but 800 max for Dutch.
Brit AH-1 / American AH-64 have same loadouts, plus AT loads.

F-16CJ, Tornado GR4:
LS 2x 500lb LGB 2x 500lb JDAM
MS 2x 1000lb LGB 2x 1000lb JDAM
HS 2x 2000lb LGB 2x 2000lb JDAM
LA 2x Maverick Missiles
MA 2x 500lb LGB 2x Maverick Missiles
HA 4x 500lb LGB 4x Maverick Missiles
Air Support Assets: (all three each of F-16 and Tornado Support)
Antitank Assets: (Tornado only)
Identical Loadouts:
• American AV-8B & A-10 (except guns), F-16CJ, F/A-18D Hornet (Marines);
• British Harrier GR9, Tornado GR4, Typhoon F2;
• German Tornado IDS;
• Dutch F-16CJ, Tornado GR4;
• Canadian F/A-18D Hornet (CF-188).
It is untested if the different platforms have different accuracy of their weapons, but the loadouts are identical.
The Harrier has been seriously handicapped vs the American version with the loss of the gun.
