The tourism in rural areas has a long

history in Europe. There is a tradition

of people that is living in rural areas to

give to travelers food and shelter in

their ways to different destinations.

In 1970, the agrIotourism felt a lot of changes in consumer demands . In 1980, 25% of Europe population had home in rural zone and the popularity of these areas increased in a lot of countries.

After 1960, the people starts to be interested of holidays, the agritourism becoming one of the most important economic activities in the world.

More and more tourists prefere to stay in their holidays in quiet places like small towns near of the mountain. In Romania, there are a lot of agriotourism towns- Tismana (Gorj county), Sibel(Sibiu county), Sfantu Gheorghe(Tulcea county) etc.
