CONVENIENCE SITES WITH A SOLID WASTE DECAL
A current solid waste decal is required to dispose of the following items at a convenience site. Decals are mailed to unincorporated county residents with property tax bill, usually in late summer. To purchase or replace a decal, contact the Durham County Tax office at 919-560-0300.
HOUSEHOLD GARBAGENo items larger than 8 feet.
BULKY WASTEMattresses, box springs, furniture, fencing, etc. Limited to 1 time per week.
YARD WASTENo yard waste larger than 6” in diameter or 8’ in length will be accepted. Not available at Site 4 (Rougemont).
LARGE APPLIANCESDishwashers, dryers, ovens, washing machines, water heaters, and refrigerators. No small appliances.
NO business and commercial waste. For additional restrictions see site attendant.

Durham County provides roadside collection of recyclables for unincorporated residents every other week. Collection during holiday weeks remains unchanged unless otherwise noted on the calendar. Each home is issued one free 18 gallon recycling bin. Additional bins are $8.00. To order a bin call 919-560-0433. Customers may also use a similar shaped and sized container or smaller.
