Term 3 Week 5 - Edition 13 Friday 23 August 2019
Principal’s Report
The middle of the term!?!? Can you believe it? Time flies when
you’re having fun and we are certainly doing that.
P&C Meeting
Thanks to all those who were able to attend our school P&C
meeting last week. The meeting minutes are available from
school for anyone who wished to catch up on the agenda items.
PSSA Small Schools Soccer
On Wednesday our 456 class travelled to Murwillumbah to
compete in the PSSA Small Schools Soccer KO. They have been
preparing for this for many months and were really happy to finally
be able to get onto the field to participate. The day was a
complete success, with our students giving their all in 2 full-on
matches. In our first match, we were just pipped by Burringbar in
a terrific game. The second game saw us matched against
Crystal Creek, where we came a valiant second again. All day
long, the kids chased furiously, kicked fantastically and did not
stop trying. Their sportsmanship, their enthusiasm and the
enjoyment they got from playing together as a team was clear for
all to see. Well done team, and thank you to all the parents who
were able to transport, support and cheer!
Les Peterkin Visual Arts competition
Congratulations to 8 of our students who were successful in
gaining a place in this prestigious competition run annually
throughout the greater Tweed area. 4246 entries were accepted
from 36 schools, making this a significant achievement. Zoe,
Autumn, Mikayla, Eva, Gally, Liv and Austin were all winners in
the minor ‘book’ component of the competition and Leilani was
fortunate enough to achieve first place in the 11-13 year old
section. A wonderful achievement for these students, well done!
Creative Arts Camp
Our 7 students who attended this camp had an amazing week. While they were fatigued (and perhaps a little homesick too!), they experienced an excellent week of art, music and physical
activities. They certainly did us all proud and created an excellent reputation for our school. Well done! Athletics Carnival
Congratulations to our 5 students who competed in the Murwillumbah District Athletics last week. They did their absolute best and produced some excellent results. Liv and Geordie were
fortunate enough to place in their events and have qualified for the Zone Carnival this week. Good luck and we look forward to hearing how you go!

Toilet upgrade
Many thanks to Dan Mueller for working over his weekend to
paint our student toilets and make them more pleasant for our
kids. Thanks also to our P&C, (Kathy in particular) for
supporting this upgrade with the locating and purchasing of
resources.
Passion Projects
Many thanks to those parents who were able to help with our
last cycle of Passion Projects. This program really provides
excellent opportunities for our students and a great way to
connect home and school. The next cycle is being created for
a start in week 6. If you have the time to spare and would like
to help out in this program, just contact Mrs Field here at
school.
Save the date! Chicken Coop Working Bee September 8
Well the slab is laid, and we are now just waiting to build, build
and build some more. The date has been set for the working
bee planning to continue the project, with details to follow.
Save the date!
Ooshies
With the number of disagreements over who owns which
ooshie, and the growing instances of students being distracted
during learning times (Yes, we did ask them to keep them in
their bags), we are now asking students to keep their valuable
collectibles at home to play with. We thank parents for their
support in this.
Hopefully everyone has a wonderful and relaxing weekend
doing what they enjoy most.
