Armtec is excited to introduce BOSS 3000, the latest evolution in Steel Reinforced Polyethylene (SRPE) drainage pipe. Galvanized steel is encased in High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) to deliver outstanding strength and durability in a lightweight product. BOSS 3000’s 320 kPa pipe stiffness meets the demanding requirements of today’s municipal markets and provides better value for the tax dollar. Manufactured in Canada, it is tested and meets all requirements of the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standards B182.14 and B182.15.

BOSS 3000 SRPE PIPE

With its innovative helical HDPE encapsulated galvanized steel ribs, BOSS 3000 delivers a 320 kPa pipe stiffness in diameters from 1050 to 2100 mm (42 to 84 in). This lightweight and highly inert pipe features a smooth interior wall to ensure optimal hydraulics. Its bell and gasketed spigot joints allow simple field connection and superior joint integrity, meeting the most conservative sewer pipe performance needs. BOSS 3000 is factory tested and meets all requirements of CSA standards B182.14 and B182.15.

BOSS 3000’s engineered bell and gasketed spigot joint provides a sanitary sewer quality connection lab tested to 100 kPa (15 psi) in accordance with ASTM D3212 and certified to CSA standard B182.15. This high performance connection ensures watertight operation and minimizes joint shifting, common with traditional rigid pipe installations.

MOVING BOSS 3000 PIPE PRIOR TO INSTALLATION

As a flexible pipe, the key to a successful installation of BOSS 3000 is achieving stable and permanent support through the selection and compaction of proper embedment materials. Complete guidelines and procedures can be found in the BOSS 3000 Installation Guide Technical Bulletin B3.42.1 based on CSA standard B182.11 “Recommended Practice for Installation of Thermoplastic Drain, Storm, and Sewer Pipe and Fittings” or BNQ 1809-300.

1. FOUNDATION PREPARATIONThe pipe must rest on a smooth, stable foundation, free of rocks and clumps.

2. BEDDINGBedding should consist of compacted well-graded granular material, levelled to the proper grade.

3. HAUNCHINGHaunching should be the same material as bedding, placed and compacted in successive lifts of 150 mm, up to the springline of the pipe and compacted to 95% Standard Proctor Density.

4. INITIAL BACKFILLBackfill should be the same material as for haunching, extending from the springline to 300 mm above pipe crown for diameters of 1800 mm or less, or 400 mm for the 2100 mm diameter. Compaction should be to 95% Standard Proctor Density.Avoid impacting pipe with compaction equipment.

5. FINAL BACKFILLSelect native materials may be used for final backfill, depending on the application. Backfill material shall be free of large rocks, clay or frozen material.
