DURA GRATING - TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS - January 2014
1 Definition
Glass-reinforced plastic (GRP or fibreglass) is a composite material made of a thermosetting plastic resin
reinforced by fine fibres of glass along with the use of additives and is commonly referred to by the name
of fibreglass
1.1 Applications
GRP is an immensely versatile material which combines lightweight with inherent strength to provide a
resilient finished product with a variety of surface textures and a virtually unlimited colour range available.
By selecting the appropriate combination of fibreglass reinforcements, resins and processing techniques,
the engineer can create a product or component to meet the most demanding of specifications.
2.1 Benefits
High strength, light weight, dimensional stability, corrosion/chemical/electrical resistance, low
tooling/installation cost, long life. GRP products compete very favourably on a performance/life cycle cost
basis versus traditional materials.
2.2 Open Area
Dura Grating Standard 25mm, 30mm, 38mm thickness panels have a 68% Open Area.
Dura Grating Standard 13mm, 50mm thickness panels have a 78% Open Area.
Dura Grating Mini 14mm, 22mm, 30mm, 38mm thickness panels have an Open Area of 42%
Dura Grating Micro 22mm, 30mm thickness panels have an Open Area of 36%
2.3 Raw Material Characteristics
Two main components produce composite GRP: polyester resin and glass fibres. Isopthalic polyester resin
is used to manufacture Dura Grating Standard Mesh due to its great compromise of performance and cost.
Orthopthalic resin used to manufactuer Dura Grating Mini Mesh and Phenolic & Vinylester resin is available
by special order according to project needs.
2.5 Product
Dura Grating is a moulded non-slip composite floor grating system
constructed from fibreglass as an ideal and cost effective alternative to
traditional floor grating materials like mild steel, stainless steel grating,
aluminium or wood. Dura Grating grid flooring is durable, lightweight
and chemical and corrosion resistant which makes it ideal for the
industrial, chemical, construction and shipping industries.

Supplied in smooth or gritted (Silicone Carbide), different grit sizes are available.
5.0 Chemical Resistance
Dura Grating standard product is resistant against wide a range of chemicals across wide temperature
spectrum. Dura Grating can be made of different resin systems to achieve specific chemical resistance.
