Entering the parkland, through pillared, wrought-iron gates, you and your guests are greeted

by the magical sight of a fairytale castle rising dramatically from a wooded Hill.

You will be warmly welcomed as you make your way by car, courtesy vehicle or on foot to our Green Court lawn and on to one of our licensed ceremony rooms. The photo opportunities, both inside the castle and within our gardens, abound, with vistas, archways, ruins and bridges – you’ll be spoilt for choice.

The stunning interiors of the castle are open to the public from April until October, while our sub-tropical terraced gardens are available to enjoy all year around.

Mark and Michelle liked the intimacy of the Tenants’ Hall in our medieval

gatehouse. The vaulted ceiling and wrought-iron chandeliers created a church-like feel. The groomsmen arrived in style in their blue Mini complete with wedding ribbon. The ancient entrance door was flanked by bay trees and the interior was decorated with spring flowers. Natural wooden chairs completed this relaxed May wedding. Drinks and canapés were enjoyed on Green Court.

Sharon and Conan chose the Tenants’ Hall to create an Art Deco inspired winter

wedding. The navy and cream colourscheme was incorporated into the decorations on the 8ft-tall Nordman Fir Christmas tree. The lit woodburning stoves made for a cosy atmosphere as the bride and groom made their vows before family and friends. They then moved on to their nearby reception venue in a 1931 Cadillac.

Greg and Jan liked the idea of Jan making her entrance down the magnificent 17th-century main staircase. A pianist played the grand piano to their excited and expectant guests. Greg welcomed guests

in the Outer Hall, whilst Jan waited upstairs with her bridesmaids and two sons. Two large flower arrangements were all the Halls needed as the interior speaks for itself.

Sam and Tommy wanted a grand Christmas wedding and the archways were adorned with traditional foliage garlands from our gardens and beautifully decked Christmas trees in red and gold. Bouquets of red and cream flowers with green foliage and bridesmaids in faux fur stoles completed the festive look. After the ceremony seasonal drinks and canapés were enjoyed in the Outer Hall.

Charlotte and Steve wanted a very intimate ceremony in a unique setting with beautiful

views. The Conservatory offers all of this. With a string trio playing and 16 close family sitting and standing, Charlotte and her dad made their way in to the Conservatory through our beautiful Drawing Room. Their vows were taken in the bay window with views of Dunster polo lawns and the sea in the distance. Drinks and canapés were enjoyed afterwards on the South Terrace.

The Green Court

Charlotte and Steve wanted their reception to be in an iconic setting and flow

seamlessly from their ceremony. After getting married in the Conservatory 80 more of their friends and family joined them for a relaxed but highly polished sit-down marquee reception on our Green Court. The interior was dressed with round paper lanterns in the ceiling, cream roses, chill out sofas and a circular mirrored bar. As day turned to evening the castle was washed with different coloured lights. The bar lit up as guests took to the dancefloor, breaking off to enjoy a delicious hog roast or capture memories in the photo booth.

The Tenants’ Hall

Mark and Shelley and 30 of their friends and family enjoyed an intimate

late summer reception in our Tenants Hall after getting married in a local church. Mark and Shelley arrived in a beautiful vintage car and the warm early evening sunshine allowed for plenty of photo opportunities in the gardens. One long table down the centre of the room meant that everyone could enjoy their buffet supper together. As darkness fell and a chill filled the air, guests warmed themselves by the glowing flames of the wood burning stoves. In-house music and dancing completed this truly lovely occasion.
