Have a fabulous day!
Welcome to Week 8 Term 2,
COVID 19 - In line with health advice, schools are operating full time and many additional
activities are now able to commence. As from this week, community use activities used by
students, such as dance classes, are allowed with limited adult attendance. It is necessary
that students are dropped off and then collected by parents. Parents and other siblings/
community members are not to remain on school grounds during this time. As further re-
strictions in this area are lifted, we will inform parents.
From the beginning of Term 3 all school sport and activities including competitions aligned with current health advice will
begin. (Please note that the PSSA and CHSSA Athletics has been cancelled for 2020). Further consideration will be given
in Term 3 to the following events: school camps, parent attendance at assemblies and other school events, parent volun-
teers and school based activities that involve a large gathering of adults.
Cross Country - In line with the above restrictions in regard to parent attendance at school events , for our Cross Country
at the Dunedoo Sports Club next Friday, there will be a place allocated in the car park for parents to watch, however,
parents must maintain social distancing and not come into close proximity with staff or students.
Car Park - Last week I became aware of some issues in regard to car parking at school. There is no designated place that
staff must park at school. Parents are welcome to collect their child from any of the entrances to the school (except for
the bus entry at the side of the Library) . If parents park along Merrygoen street, they must come across the road to col-
lect their children as buses are arriving and leaving from this area. I ask that all people parking do so using the minimum
space required to allow for more cars to access the school. I also remind the school community that on any one day
there are up to 40 people who are working on site at our school and as such this requires significant numbers of car spac-
es. I ask that all people are cooperative and mindful of others when parking near the school.
Yr 6 Wednesday Lunch—starting this week, Year 6 students will come to the Secondary Quadrangle for the second half of
lunch and then join the secondary students for sport, as they have been doing this year. This is part of the transition pro-
gram for Year 6 into 7.
Year 7—10 Half Yearly Exams - will take place next week. The timetable is in this newsletter. Students are reminded that
Afternoon Study is available on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
Student Attendance—Letters have been sent home for students who have less than 85 % attendance. This is a mandatory
requirement of the Department of Education. I would appreciate your support in ensuring that your child is at school
everyday, unless unwell.
HSC Seminars—below is the timetable of HSC Seminars for the next two weeks.
P & C—our monthly P&C meeting will be held this Thursday at 7:00pm in the school Library. I hope to see you there.
Have a great week! Donna Lane

The year 5-6 students have been researching a country of South East Asia, and have put their research findings into
a presentation for their peers. Presentations have been in a variety of formats, including Powerpoints, posters and
essays. Chloe Brougham chose to create a booklet, and here are a couple of pages from that booklet. So far,
presentations have been very interesting and pleasing to witness. They will continue on Tuesday, with the final
presentations next Tuesday.
Congratulations to Timothy Sweeney for demonstrating ’Being in the Right Place at the Right Time’ and winning our
weekly Fish Award. This week’s focus continues to be ‘Right Place Right Time’, with a focus on lunchtime eating
routines.
Thank you to the P & C Association for the new lunch tables in the Primary and also to the Year 9/10 IT class, Mrs
Fergusson and Mr Stanford for putting them together. They look great and everyone is enjoying having a bit more
table space.
The Cross Country Carnival is on next Friday the 26th of June from 1pm. A timetable for the event is in this news-
letter including the protocol for visiting parents. K-6 students will be cross country training during Fitness time and
we will have a practice walk/run of the course during Sport this Friday. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, there will
be no next level of competition as the decision was made last week to cancel all NSW PSSA events for the remain-
der of the year. This includes athletics (although our school carnival will be held early next term) and all knockout
competitions.
Assessments across K-6 will be taking place over the next couple of weeks as teachers prepare for report writing.
Due to the extended home learning period, reports for this semester will be sent home at the end of Week 2 next
term. Parent teacher meetings will also occur at this time - more information will follow shortly.
Have a great week everyone.
Mr Ben Kline
This week in Mathematics we started a topic on Fractions. We are forming
equivalent fractions by multiplying and dividing. Knowing multiplication tables is
very important and makes simplifying fractions much quicker and simpler. Thank you to those who handed in their
weekly homework sheets last week, we are getting closer to drawing the raffle. Please keep practising multiplication
tables at home. Mrs Cathy Gallagher
Mr Honeysett’s Class - 3/4 During Creative Arts lessons on Thursdays, Year 3-4 have been honing their drawing skills with the help of tutorials from the ‘Art for Kids Hub’. The students have concentrated incredibly well during Art and I’m sure you would agree, that their Artwork really looks amazing!
Year 3-4 Maths this week with Mrs Milsom, will focus on the Topics of
“Multiplication and Division”. I hope everyone has been practising their times tables!
Year 3-4 have been learning about what makes a
good Informative Text. Students will be publishing
their own Informative Texts during writing sessions
this week.
Most Year 3-4 Students have created many fantastic posts in response to learning activities on SeeSaw throughout the Covid-19 Home Learning Period and now as we get back to our normal teaching and learning routines at school. These activities are really important as they engage students in meaningful online learning tasks that help to promote student creativity and improve individual students’ ICT and Digital Technology skills.
Thank you, Mr Honeysett, Year 3 -4 Teacher
Year 3-4 Students will be involved in Cross Country practice this Friday down at the Golf Course so they can familiarise themselves with the course again before the Cross Country is run in Week 9 of this term.

9/10 Mathematics (5.2)
We are currently working on ‘Algebraic Expressions’, however we will spend the remainder of this week revising for
the Half-Yearly Examination on Monday. Students have been given a sheet outlining the areas that may be exam-
ined and suggestions for questions to complete as revision. Ten percent of the examination marks will come from a
student created Learning Log so I strongly encourage all students to complete this and use it during the exam. We
have once again commenced weekly homework sheets, which are due each Thursday (except next week due to
exams).
11 Mathematics Standard
Students have just started a new unit on ‘Data Analysis’. They will be given their second assessment task next week
(due after the holidays) which is a Measurement and Statistics assignment to complete at home, however they will
be given some class time. Weekly homework sheets are due Fridays and students are reminded to use ‘Edrolo’ to
assist with learning.
12 Mathematics Advanced
Students are completing their final topic for the course on ‘Continuous Probability Distributions’, so there will be
plenty of time for revision next term. Students are regularly completing homework and using ‘Edrolo’ to assist with
learning.
12 Mathematics Extension 1
We are completing a topic on ‘Further Vectors’, with the text topic being ’Further Integration’. The next assessment
task, an assignment on Vectors, will be completed over the next few weeks.
Mrs Cathy Gallagher
Afternoon study for secondary students will be supervised by Mrs Gallagher this
Wednesday afternoon and Mrs Sullivan on Thursday afternoon. It is in Room 10
from approximately 3:15 - 4:40pm. With half-yearly exams for years 7-10 next week
we hope to see many students there.
@DCS
Year 12 students have just applied, through UAC, to University. This is a very exciting time,
thinking about life after school.
For students more interested in Apprenticeships and Traineeships, Year 10, 11 & 12 students
are regularly forwarded emails from Sarina Russo Apprenticeships | Australia, which lists op-
portunities in the Sydney, Illawarra, Mid North Coast, Murray Riverina, Southern NSW and ACT regions.
Jobjump newsletters-which are a wealth of information-are attached to our DCS newsletter and Facebook page.
Year 12 have had the opportunity to join several Zoom sessions hosted by various universities. The next sessions are
being run by UNSW-Gateway Winter program during the school holidays.
TAS news Year 12 IT
I have the class for all theory lessons, we are currently working our way through
Chapter questions to facilitate and enhance knowledge and understanding of
Design and Drawing concepts. Students are progressing well with Folios and practical work with the help of Teacher’s
Aide, Rob Whackett.
Year 11 IT
The class are working through theory work on tools & joints associated
with furniture making. They are in the process of completing a bedside ta-
ble, and accompanying folio.
Year 11 Metals
The boys have been “attending” zoom meetings with Distance Education
teacher Mr Drew Martin, and complete theory booklets which are paired
with practical work delivered by Mr Martin at DCS.
Year 10 Metals
Again, the class has been working patiently and diligently through booklets addressing topics including workshop
safety, drilling operations and metal working machinery. This is complimented by Mr Martin teaching the students
practical components on Fridays.
Have a great week. Mrs Fergusson
JobJump newsletters will be emailed to senior secondary students. The newsletters are also available on our
DCS Careers Facebook page. If you would like to know any more information please ask Mrs Fergusson.
