Anatomy (Bachelor of science)anatomy? What is it? it’s everything! anatomy is central to human biology, and to the study of both health and disease. understanding anatomy helps us to understand what’s going on in our bodies when we go through our daily lives, and to understand what happens during illness or disease. There are four core areas in anatomy. [1] reproduction and Development, which asks questions like: What makes some sperm more successful than others? How do our bodies form before birth and how can this influence birth defects and childhood disease. [2] Biological anthropology, which asks questions like: How did people migrate across the Pacific? How did people used to live, what did they do, and how did they die? [3] neuroscience, which asks things like: How do we form new memories, and what happens when we are no longer able to remember; How can we repair the brain after stroke or in disease such as alzheimer’s and parkinsons. [4] Clinical anatomy, which asks things like: Why are knee injuries so common? Can we improve surgery outcome?

if you think you might be interested in any of these topics or anything else relating to the four core areas, visit the Department of anatomy for further information. you will hear more about these topics, see anatomy in action, and meet student researchers who will tell you about their work.

Bioethicsis it right to use animals to help develop and produce medical treat-ments? should health professionals always tell patients the truth, even if the patient doesn’t want this? is there anything wrong with displaying preserved, dissected human bodies in a public exhibition?
