There is a café where you can buy drinks and snacks.

You will see ushers wearing black. They work for the theatre, and can help you if you need to ask questions.

They will also take your tickets when you go into the auditorium. They will give you part of your ticket back.

They also sell programmes before the show starts.

You may hear announcements through speakers in the foyer saying when you can go and find your seat in the auditorium and how long it will be until the play starts.

This is a picture inside the theatre.

The theatre is a large room which will be full of other people.

There are seats for the audience to sit in. You sit in the seat number that has been given to you on your ticket.

A play is a story that actors perform to you and the other people in the audience.

If you would like to take some time out during the play you may leave at any time and find a seat in the foyer until you are ready to go back in.

When the play is going to start, the lights will dim slowly and it will be darker than when you arrived.

When everyone is ready, the actors will come out onto the stage and the play will start.

The actors won’t be able to talk directly to you during the play. They will be in character. This character may talk to you or the audience. You may respond to this.

At the end of the show everyone will clap their hands to show the actors that they enjoyed the play.

When the clapping has ended, the lights will get brighter.

This means the show is over.

You can now leave the theatre.

Exit through the foyer.
