Partnership Court, Park Street Dundalk, Co Louth [email protected] www.dundalkfm.com (tel) 042 93 95100 (studio sms) 087 0909791 August 2012 Busy Summer Season During the last two months, we have been out at Cluskey's for our Summer BBQ, Summerfest 2012 was headlined by Pat Coldrick in the AV Theatre (thanks to Michael Duffy for a marvellous show), we were on location from the Men's Sheds, the Dundalk Show, the Family Fun Day at Stephenstown Pond, the Ford Model T exhibition at the Market Square and the Seatown Fest 2012. Dundalk FM will be at the 'Rock on Farmer's Day – August 15 th LIVE from the Stone House. Programming It is no surprise to learn that Dundalk FM is applying for a change to it's licence to 24-hour broadcasting to commence in mid September! We have been granted an award from the BAI to run a workshop with minority language groups in town. We are working with local comic book designer Tommie Kelly to produce a booklet in nine languages and we are organising a station visit to Phoenix FM in Blanchardstown. Also in the planning stage is a special show called 'Bookends' featuring local poets and writers in association with the Dundalk Town Council Art's Office in An Táin Theatre on Friday 7 th September at 1.00pm – All welcome. Documentary Making Ruaille Buaille – a series of twenty programmes featuring a letter of the Irish alphabet accompanied by local musicians which will be broadcast in September. For the Beauty of Our Town a documentary about the life of local railwayman Joe McEntee – 'a man ahead of his time'. This programme will be broadcast at 11.00am on Thursday 30 th August. The Golden Gates - a two part drama written and recorded with residents of the Simon Community and open for Dundalk FM volunteers to take part in a drama workshop and script development. Christy Flemming is the writer. Date of broadcast 17 th October, the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Diary Dates Members Meeting Wednesday 29 th August 'Documentary Making', Community Offices at 7pm. The Dundalk Media Centre Limited AGM will take place on Tuesday 18 th September in the Community Offices at 7pm. Membership renewal forms are due by 1 st September. The Dundalk FM Van fund is now open so anyone with an idea for raising funds to cover the cost – please get in touch! See below for our 'Sales Chaser' idea by Karl Moore.
