What a year it’s been! Our people have been busy idenfying problems that affect producvity, from the office to the field. Lean tools are being used to begin to correct problems. As menoned in the last Buzz, during 2010 we’ll spend some me circling back to see if implemented changes are effecve. If they are not working, or need tweaking, teams need to take steps for further improvement. As we move into 2010 we also need to begin thinking about producvity from an everyday standpoint. How can Lean principles be incorporated into everyday work acvies? Problem solving, interacon with others, and team building all play key roles in Lean. Lean is not just about projects and 5S events; it does involve being OK with the fact that there are problems that need fixing. Covering up problems teaches us nothing. Instead, we need to get to the root cause and correct the issue, then share results so others benefit from the knowledge. That is how we become a learning organizaon. The examples above have given us a small taste of that approach – now we need to really build on that to a greater degree. The following Jamar staff are LEAN resources. They all gradu- ated in 2009!

What a year it’s been! Our people have been busy identifying problems that affect productivity, from the office to the field. Lean tools are being used to begin to correct problems. As mentioned in the last Buzz, during 2010 we’ll spend some time circling back to see if implemented changes are effective. If they are not working, or need tweaking, teams need to take steps for further improvement.

As we move into 2010 we also need to begin thinking about productivity from an everyday standpoint. How can Lean principles be incorporated into everyday work activities? Problem solving, interaction with others, and team building all play key roles in Lean. Lean is not just about projects and 5S events; it does involve being OK with the fact that there are problems that need fixing. Covering up problems teaches us nothing. Instead, we need to get to the root cause and correct the issue, then share results so others benefit from the knowledge. That is how we become a learning organization. The examples above have given us a small taste of that approach – now we need to really build on that to a greater degree.

The following Jamar staff are LEAN resources. They all gradu-ated in 2009!
