Onshore Wind

Portfolio: Pre-Construction Projects (>150MW)

Client:

Lender’s Technical Advisor on a portfolio of 15 wind farm transactions in the UK since late 2009. Projects ranged in size from single-turbine to multi-turbine installations with average installed capacity of 12MW. TÜV SÜD PMSS also carried out detailed turbine technology reviews and, post-financial close, continued their role, through construction monitoring activities on 14 projects.

Portfolio: Pre-Construction Projects (>20MW)

Client:

Pre-construction technical due diligence as Lender’s Technical Advisor for two wind farms in the UK in receipt of planning approval and grid connection offers but with construction and operation contracts not yet agreed. TÜV SÜD PMSS reviewed commercial and technical issues from permitting, wind yield, grid connection, HSE, construction and operational risks, supported by site visits and have provided construction monitoring on behalf of the Lender.

Portfolio: Pre-Construction Projects (>25MW)

Client:

Acted as Lender’s Technical Advisor on 5 financial transactions in the UK since 2012. Projects ranged in size from single turbine to multi-turbine installations using a variety of Gamesa, Enercon and REpower turbines. TÜV SÜD PMSS were involved in considerable key contract negotiations for one of the projects.

Portfolio: Projects in France, Germany and Poland (>200MW)

Client:

Acquisition due diligence on a portfolio of development and operating onshore wind farms across France and Germany as part of the acquisition of Epuron by Impax Asset Management. Review of wind yield reports, independent wind yield assessments; analysis of selected issues at proposed projects, including ground risk; site visits; review of operational data and operational issues.

Conducted pre-construction due diligence on a separate portfolio of wind farms in Poland, which included analysis of the Polish wind energy market.

Offshore Wind

Rødsand 2 Offshore Wind Farm (207MW)

Client: Confidential

Acquisition due diligence in connection with E.ON’s sale of 80% of the Rødsand 2 offshore wind farm in Denmark. Provided extensive review of construction and operational documents and methodologies; assisted negotiation of acquisition documents and long-term O&M agreement; site visit; wind report with independent energy yield assessment.

Walney Offshore Wind Farm (367MW)

Client:

Independent pre-construction project review to advise and inform the procurement process. Reviewed engineering and contract packages; HSE, CDM and quality assurance; consents & environmental analysis; grid connection; programme, interface & risk review; Operations and asset management review. Significant interface with project team. Regular updating and reporting basis.

Gunfleet Sands Offshore Wind Farm (173MW)

Client:

Technical review of this operational offshore wind farm in connection with a proposed acquisition of a 49% stake. Reviewed all major technical aspects of the project, including issues related to grouted connections and scour protection, grid connection, interfaces, risk management, wind reports, power curves, plant availability and asset management strategy.

Insurance Underwriting Reviews (>1900MW)

Client:

Due diligence reviews of all relevant and available materials and information in connection with GCube’s work to underwrite the construction and/or operational insurance policies for a number of offshore wind projects, including: Amrumbank West; EnBW Baltic 2; Kårehamn; Anholt; Butendiek; MEG1 and Lynn and Inner Dowsing.

Portfolio: Bulgaria, Romania and Slovenia (88MW)

Client:

Site assessment, independent energy yield analysis (PVSYST) and review of key contracts for 4 solar PV projects. Technical due diligence work was followed by construction monitoring activities and witnessing of final inspections of installations in Romania and Bulgaria and rooftop installations in Slovenia.

Portfolio: Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Romania (124MW)

Client: H1 Venture Swiss Holding AG

Technical due diligence and independent energy yield analysis (PVSYST) of a 50MW solar PV project in Bulgaria, a 4MW project in the Czech Republic and a 70MW project in Romania. The Romanian project scope also included construction monitoring and final inspection witness on behalf of the Swiss investment management fund.

Client:

Technical due diligence of 4 solar PV projects in Germany on behalf of the South Korean solar cell manufacturer. Scope also included construction monitoring and final inspection witnessing on all projects for all projects and an independent energy yield assessment on 1 project.

Client: Solar Investments Ltd

Technical Adviser to UK investment fund for 5 solar PV projects in Italy. Provided and independent energy yield assessment and construction monitoring and assistance in preliminary and final project acceptance.
