Iron gate valves are available in twobasic types; non-rising stem InsideScrew and rising stem Outside Screwand Yoke type.

The inside screw type has the stemactuating thread within the pressureenvelope and is non-rising.This typeof valve is usually used for noncorrosive and reasonably cleanservices and has a smaller overallheight than the outside screw type.

The outside screw, rising stem typehas the stem actuating thread outsidethe pressure envelope and can beused on more active media where thefluid might otherwise have an adverseaffect on the thread.

Valve bodies are made from ductile iron or cast iron and haveintegral flanges.

Seat rings are threaded and securelyfixed into the body.

Bonnets are made of ductile iron orcast iron and those for outside screwgate valves have a machined backseating surface and contain the glandpacking chamber.

Sizes DN50 to DN100 have integralwedge seat faces and are made of thetrim material but larger sizes havefacing rings inserted into castiron wedges.

Iron gate valves may be used at thepressure/temperature parametersshown on the individual data sheets.However, it should be recognised thatat elevated temperatures above120°C, difficulty in opening/closingmay occur. Refer to guidance in theInstallation, Operation andMaintenance Instructions.
