Meet the Coaches
Head Coach Dan Duclos
Head Coach Dan Duclos returns for his 28th season at the helm of the RAMS Men’s Swim Team. Dan hails from Patton, Pennsylvania; he is a graduate of Cambria Heights High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from Harding University in Arkansas in 1977 and his master’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 1999. Since coming to the RAMS, Coach Duclos has won 9 MVC Coach of the Year awards, 17 District Coach of the Year awards, and was named State Coach of the Year in 1983, 1993, 1996, and 1998. Coach Duclos has coached thirteen individual state champions, five Medley Relay state champions, and two 200 Free Relay state champions. In addition to these honors, Coach Duclos’ swimmers have earned 35 All-American honors.
Assistant Coach Pete Ross
Assistant Coach Pete Ross enters his 7th season as the assistant coach of RAMS Men’s Swim Team; he is also a guidance counselor at Jefferson Middle School. Prior to coming to the Dubuque Community School District, Pete was a counselor at Marengo High School in Marengo, Illinois, where he also coached freshman baseball and freshman girls’ basketball. Coach Ross’ experience with swimming includes two years as Head Coach of the Wahlert Catholic High School Swim Team, where, in 1995, he was named MVC Coach of the Year and coached the Golden Eagles to a 4th place finish at the State Meet. He also spent 14 years as the Head Coach of Men’s and Women’s Swimming at Loras College where he coached 14 NCAA All-Americans, including 3 Academic All-Americans.

Andy Lange Senior I have been swimming for 3 years. I enjoy working on cars. My future plans are to leave for NAVY SEAL training after graduation.
Brian Pape Senior Athletic: This is my 3rd year swimming, and I have earned a Major D. Academic: I have been on the honor roll for all 4 years. Hobbies: I work with my Dad, hunt, and play X-Box 360. Plans: My future plans include going to college to become a firefighter. Quote: “I lost my teddy bear; can I sleep with you tonight?”
Chris Haas Senior Athletic: Swimming, cross country (major D), and tennis. Academic: NHS, Academic major D, French Club, Math Club, Rube Goldberg. Hobbies: One of my hobbies is biking. Plans: My future plans include attending the University of Iowa for pre-law, go to law school, and drop out after a year and a half, go to Vegas to play black jack for a living. Then go back to Iowa to do pre-med, go to medical school at Iowa and become a famous doctor at Sacred Heart.
Chad Knight Senior Athletic: Last year, I joined the swim team, and I wish I had gone out freshman year. And then we do a T-30 and I wish I was sleeping. Academic: I am a National Merit Finalist and ranked first in my class at Senior. Hobbies: When I’m not sleeping, eating, or swimming, I’m with friends or mastering the art of the kill on my Xbox360. I also watch a lot of TV, mainly The Office, Scrubs, and the Discovery Channel. I like music. Plans: My main aspiration in life is to have my name turned in to an adjective which definitively describes something awesome, as in “Shakespearean Sonnet,” “Freudian Slip,” or “Favresque Pass.” Quote: “Only the mediocre are always at their best.”

Hobbies: Some of my hobbies include running, biking, eating, sleeping, making money, laughing, and skipping in the halls. Plans: My future plans include finishing high school. I want to go to Loras College and major in criminal justice. I plan on swimming and running track in college too and starting an ultimate Frisbee club. Jordan Huff Jordan returns for his third year of swimming. In his first two years, he has earned two team MVPs, two individual state championships, and set 10 Senior High School records.
