Right back as far as 1983 du Pré has been installing telephone systems at customer sites throughout the UK, many of whom are still using us for their telephony services today.

du Pré has always operated with the practice of ensuring a high degree of customer satisfaction. We understand that if this is being achieved we become the natural choice for other services, such as telephone calls and IT services.

Traditional telephony has been at the heart of du Pré’s services all this time, and while we always look to embrace the reliable future technologies, we still look after many customers who want to continue with the communications systems they are well used to.

Avaya and Samsung

Central to our portfolio are the Samsung and Avaya ranges of systems.

As an accredited Avaya partner, and having become the country’s first Samsung Platinum Partner, we are able to recommend the perfect system for your organisation, from just a few extensions right up to several hundred.

IP telephony

Today, the tools to enable all these options are with us.

du Pré Connect is a hosted IP telephony platform which offers the benefits of a traditional telephone system and much more. What is hosted telephony?

Instead of having a telephone system installed at your office it’s located in a secure data centre. This is accessed through secure, resilient data connections which deliver all your telephony needs just like it’s a local system.

The hosted telephony solution from du Pré is called ‘du Pré Connect’ and is a business-grade, professional service.

With du Pré Connect,

• Disasters are much easier to manage

In the event of a flood or even a brief power cut, many businesses grind to a halt and their customers are greeted with the ‘Number Unobtainable’ tone. With du Pré Connect, all staff can relocate to anywhere there’s an internet connection and continue working just as if they’re still in the office. Even plugging a handset into a home broadband connection enables users to continue working as if they are in the office.

Employees can still call each other using their extensions and all incoming calls (along with calling groups and hunt groups) continue to operate as normal. Calls are charged to the office (saving on expenses claims) and all voicemail messages are accessed in exactly the same way.

If employees cannot get to their office handsets to take them elsewhere, individual telephone numbers can be routed straight to mobile phones to ensure the same people answer the inbound calls. Each and every phone can be routed to any handset, and all this can be done in a heartbeat.

• Home working becomes a real, viable option

Many businesses are making good use of the ability for staff to work from home, and the difference with today’s technology is that working at home really does mean working at home which you can monitor more easily by keeping in closer communication.

The 2009 outbreak of the swine flu pandemic led to many du Pré Connect users executing their home working plans to enable business continuity, while other companies used the technology to promote a healthy work/life balance and become more attractive to potential employees who needed a flexible working environment.

Some companies seeking a reduction in business premises costs choose to downsize their office in favour of homeworking, employing a small number of hot-desks for when employees do come in.

• Multiple offices working closer together

With du Pré Connect, calls can be transferred from one building to another, one town to another, even one country to another, as if everyone was in the same room.

One particular du Pré Connect customer opened a new, small office in Bahrain and began sending out staff on a regular basis. The remote team kept in touch with the HQ just as if they were back in the UK, which kept costs down while keeping the teamwork high.

Other customers are able to free multiple receptionists to be used elsewhere in the business. It doesn’t matter how many office locations you have, you only need one receptionist to take calls for all offices. And cost savings like this enable a fast and high return on investment.

Circuits

At du Pré, we firmly believe that successfully installed applications require successfully installed circuits. If your existing circuits are of a sufficient quality to accommodate the applications then we’re more than happy to work with these to provide your solution.

However, if your existing circuits are designed for yesterday’s technology, we will manage the ordering, installation and maintenance of new circuits which are designed to realise the full potential of your applications.

du Pré supplies and project manages the installation of a variety of different type of circuits, including:

- Leased lines - Ethernet circuits - ADSL lines - SDSL lines

Each of these circuits can provide an internet or private connection using flexible, modern technologies such as MPLS and IPSec encrypted Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).

One of the ways we do this is by helping you with the process of identifying the types of circuit you require, the amount of bandwidth needed and the quality of service requirements for Wide Area Network (WAN) connectivity and implementation.

Case Study: St. Michael’s Hospice

Having purchased a Panasonic DBS telephone system from du Pré plc in 1994, St. Michael’s Hospice in Hampshire decided it was high time for a state-of-the-art Avaya system to take the charity into the 21st century.

“The Avaya IP500 is quite simply the best value for money in terms of product quality and flexibility.” And someone like Berny Meunier, IT Manager for St. Michael’s Hospice, knows exactly what he is talking about.

The charity initially bought a Panasonic telephone system over fifteen years ago, and enjoyed many years of use from it. With du Pré having supported the previous system for all these years, it seemed logical to turn to them for the supply of a new IP-enabled system.

“The IP500 from Avaya was the perfect choice for our organisation as we wanted the ability to answer switchboard calls from multiple desks. We had some major problems during the snow last winter as the receptionist was unable to make it into the office. But the IP500 is perfect for overcoming issues like this,” said Berny.

One of the features many organisations find beneficial is the ability to use a variety of handsets off the same system. This means significant cost savings can

be made (by retaining analogue extensions in less frequently used locations) whilst embracing the digital era with fully enabled IP handsets.

And the ability to check voicemails easily when out of the office keeps all staff operating much more efficiently. St. Michael’s Hospice, like so many organisations today, has a great need to save time and money, and the Avaya system is an enabler to help achieve this. “I have far more control now than ever before. I have the ability to program the system to meet our needs,” explained Berny.

He continues, “This means I don’t have to call du Pré when we have any adds, moves or changes. A good example of this is when we needed a hunt group for our Fundraising Hotline, allowing anybody to answer calls. I created this ability in just a few minutes.

“Furthermore,” says Berny, “because I can monitor calls and analyse line usage, I already know we have sufficient capacity for expansion without any additional costs.”

Calls and Lines with du Pré

Until recently, St. Michael’s Hospice used BT for their calls and lines at all sites. This service is now provided by du Pré plc too, meaning there is just one place to call for all telephony support needs.

Berny explains why this solution works so well for St. Michael’s Hospice. “We’ve seen a vast reduction in costs by tying together the Avaya system with calls and lines. This means we can recoup all the costs of the phone system with these savings in a very short time.”

Case Study: PrintSoft SystemsGrasping the opportunity for a new telephone system during a recent office move, PrintSoft Systems Ltd considered various options before selecting ‘du Pré Connect’ to operate across their UK office.

Having operated for many years with a traditional telephone system, PrintSoft chose du Pré Connect to meet their needs, embracing new technology with a future-proof system.

“It seemed to make the most sense,” explained Simon Power, Support Team Leader at PrintSoft. “After all, we are a forward thinking company so an IP solution for us was perfect.”

Simon continued, “It also makes much more sense with the simplicity of cabling throughout the company. Gone are the days of cable for telephones and cable for computers. Now it’s much more straightforward to manage.”

It was last summer that du Pré was called in for the new system installation. “It was all very painless,” said Simon, “and the du Pré Support Team in Newbury was always there to iron out any teething problems with Connect.” This was no surprise as the Project Control team at du Pré has carried out numerous installations and is highly skilled at operational and user training needs.

du Pré Connect enables an employee to unplug their office handset and take it home to continue working. This activity is becoming increasingly expected as companies need to respond to external inflences, such as flu pandemics and other disasters.

Meanwhile, Simon is enjoying the other benefits of du Pré Connect. “It’s not just about enabling people to work from home,” he said. “It’s so much easier now to configure handsets ourselves, and to create huntgroups and new users. All those small changes are easily managed directly by us now.

“And I know that when I need the du Pré Support Team, everyone in the team is pleasant and helpful, which is always good!”

Simon admits that PrintSoft was a little apprehensive about IP Telephony before making the switch. “Yes, we did have some concerns initially,” he said, “but one year on I’m very pleased with our decision. du Pré Connect is better than before, easier to manage, far more flexible than anything else, and the call quality is just as good, if not better, than it was beforehand.”
