DESTRUCTIVE TEST REPORT
BACKGROUND
Destructive testing or Mechanical testing plays an important role in evaluating fundamentalproperties of engineering materials as well as in developing new materials and in controlling the
quality of materials for use in design and construction. If a material is to be used as part of anengineering structure that will be subjected to a load, it is important to know that the material is
strong enough and rigid enough to withstand the loads that it will experience in service. As aresult engineers have developed a number of experimental techniques for mechanical testing of
engineering materials subjected to tension, compression, bending or torsion loading.

I. TENSILE TEST1. DEFINITION
Tension test is widely used to provide basic design information on the strength of materials
and is an acceptance test for the specification of materials. The major parameters that
describe the stress-strain curve obtained during the tension test are the tensile strength (UTS),yield strength or yield point (y), elastic modulus (E), percent elongation (L%) and the
reduction in area (RA%).

II. BENDING TEST
1. DEFINITION
Bend testing determines the ductility or the strength of a material by bending the material
over a given radius. Following the bend, the sample is inspected for cracks on the outer
surface. Bend testing provides insight into the modulus of elasticity and the bending strengthor a material. Metallurgical offers three and four point bend setups with interchangeable
rollers for a variety of test configurations.

III. IMPACT TEST
1. DEFINITION
The Impact test, also known as the Charpy V-notch test, is a standardized high strain-rate test
which determines the amount of energy absorbed by a material during fracture. This absorbed
energy is a measure of a given material's notch toughness and acts as a tool to studytemperature-dependent ductile-brittle transition.
2. IMPACT TEST TYPE TRANSVERSAL LONGITUDINAL

IV. HARDNESS TEST
1. DEFINITION
Hardness tests are used to determine the hardness of a material to deformation. Several such
tests exist, wherein the examined material is indented until an impression is formed; these
tests can be performed on a macroscopic or microscopic scale.
2. HARDNESS TEST TYPE VICKERS HARDNESS (HV) MACRO HARDNESS

TUGAS TENSILE TEST
3. Patah Ulet dan Patah Getas perbedaannya adalah:Shear area patah getah kurang dari 10 % sedangkan shear area patah ulet diatas 50%,Nilai impact patah getas lebih rendah disbanding patah ulet.Patah ulet lebih kuat disbanding patah getas
