RS 485/PROFIBUSDescription
The RS485/PROFIBUS LWL optical waveguide cou-pler reroutes the PROFIBUS from copper conduc-tors to optical waveguides. The LWL coupler is apassive bus participant. Each electrical bus brunchopens a new 485 segment for 32 PROFIBUS par-ticipants. Additional repeater are not needed. Inexplosive plant areas, the LWL coupler allows the
bridging of great distance with PROFIBUS withoutnoise interference. The LWL coupler is installed inthe hazardous area. The electronics for the signalconversion is accom-modated in the flameproofMODEX enclosure. Transmitter and receiver for theoptical waveguide are housed in the mounting foot.The electronic systems intrinsically safe control oftransmitter and receiver guarantees that none ofthem over-heats and the transmission rates do notgo beyond maximum value limits.
Two versions are available:
1 channel for point-to-point connections
2 channels for an optically redundant ring
These possibilities allow you to realize all your tasksin the Ex-zone 1 using glass material, from thesimple optical waveguide to the redundant opticalring.
