Purpose
Use this procedure to display an existing class.
Trigger
Perform this procedure when you need to display an existing class.
Prerequisites
The class must exist in the system.
Menu Path
Use the following menu path(s) to begin this transaction:
Select Logistics Central Functions Batch Management Batch Determination Selection and Sort Selection Class Display to go to the Display Class: screen.

Procedure
1. Start the transaction using the menu path Logistics Central Functions Batch Management Batch Determination Selection and Sort Selection Class Display or transaction code BMC3.
Display Class:
2. As required, complete/review the following fields:
Field Name R/O/C Description
Class R A class is a grouping of similar objects according to common characteristics.
Example: DCSE_RAW_MATERIALS
3. Click to the right of the Class field in case you need to select the class from a list.

4. As required, complete/review the following fields:
Enter different fields to narrow your selection as needed.
Field Name R/O/C Description
Class type R Top-level unit of control for classes. Each class must be assigned to exactly one class type. The class type is used to define a number of parameters in the Classification System. Specifically, class type is used to form logical grouping of characteristics, such as characteristics for batch or configurable materials.

Field Name R/O/C Description
Description R Descriptive name given to the profile for future reference.
Example: DCSE Raw Material Batch Class
Status R Used to identify the completion status of an event. Used to determine the allowed business transactions.
Example: Released
Class group R This string is used to group together related classes.
Example: DCSE Batch Classes
Valid from R Beginning date when specifying a range of dates.
Example: 10/07/2004
Valid to R Ending date when specifying a range of dates.
Example: 12/31/9999
10. Click tab to go to the Display Class: (Keywords) screen.

Review any string used for finding a class via matchcode.
11. Click tab to go to the Display Class: (Char.) screen.

12. As required, review the following fields:
Field Name R/O/C Description
Characteristic R In QM and MM it is a quantifiable attribute of a material. Examples of characteristics include color, odor, and texture. In reporting it represents an underlying SAP data value such as company code, cost center, country, customer, material.
Example: CS_SURFACE_TENSION
Data type R Data types describe the technical attributes of data objects.
Example: NUM
No. of chars R Number of characters.
Example: 12
Decimal places R Indicates the number of decimal places to show in the data.
Example: 4
Unit R Unit by which quantities are to be measured. Some examples include pound, gram, meter, and liter.
Example: mN/m
13. Click to the left of a characteristic to select it.
14. Click to go to the Display Characteristic screen.

Under the Value assignment area, review if this characteristic allows multiple values, negative values and intervals.
15. Click tab to go to the Display Characteristic (Descriptions) screen.

Review the characteristic description for each language.
16. Click tab to go to the Display Characteristic (Values) screen.

Review the possible values for the characteristic.
17. Click to return to the Display Class: (Char.) screen.

19. You have completed this transaction.
