Friday 28 June - Gathering 9.15am in school hall. K-2 choir will be performing an item. Whole school Athletics Carnival. P & C will be operating a BBQ. Friday 5 July - Last day of school for Term 2 School holidays from Monday 8 July to Friday 19 July. Term 3 Monday 22 July - Staff Development day Friday 27 July - Gathering 9.15am in school hall. K/1 and K will be presenting an item. W elcome to week 7. The days have started chilly and fortunately warmed up . Though this does mean children take off their jumpers and place them where they are playing. Please ensure your child’s name is in their clothing so we can return them to the rightful owner. We have so many jumpers in lost property which need collection. P lease remember that our starting time is at 9am. All students should be at school by 9am ready to start classes by 9.10. It is the parents’ responsibility to ensure children are at school ready to learn every day. If your child is a few minutes late it adds up to hours and then days and then weeks of absences. The Learning and Support Team will be closely monitoring the attendance of all students. At the end of the term we have the “Grab box” and the students like to have the opportunity to have their name in the draw for prizes for 100% attendance and also for 95% attendance. To allow this to happen they must be at school. T he Athletics Carnival is on the 28 June. We will start with a Gathering and then move to the top oval for races. The K-2 will run in their age races and also have the opportunity to participate in novelty games, lead by some of our senior leaders. N ext week four teachers will be attending the PBL training in preparation of implementing the next Tier. We will be asking if there are any parents or community members who would like to be in the team next term to assist with the planning and implementation. N AIDOC week is an important celebration held across Australia where we celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. NAIDOC is celebrated by all Australians and we have been planning a variety of activities for Week 9 ( 24-28 June). There will be a timetable of events coming out as we would love for you to join us for these celebrations. O n Wednesday 26 June Dion Drummond will be attending and performing here at Drummond and we are all looking forward to his performance. The Office of the eSafety Commissioner in conjunction with Centacare NENW will be delivering a free 2-hour presentation for parents and carers about online safety in Armidale. This presentation will be on Tuesday the 10th of September from 10.30am to 12.30pm. The presentation will provide an overview of how young people use technology and the risks they may be exposed to. Participants will be given practical information to support conversations and safety measures for today’s young people. To attend, please contact Centacare NENW on 6762 9200.
