Drug use is the term for taking a drug correctly, following instructions for dose, time, etc..

Drug misuse: is using a drug, such as a prescription drug for its unintended purpose. Example would be taking ADD medication for weight loss or for “chemical” energy.

Drug Abuse: Occurs when an individual needs to take more and more of a drug to achieve the benefit they received while first misusing the chemical.
