1. GENERAL: DRAWINGS NOS. SEQ-SPS-1304-10 TOSEQ-SPS-1304-17 ARE TO BE USED AS A GUIDE FOR THEMANUFACTURE OF THE ALUMINIUM COVERS AND FRAMES FORSEWER PUMP STATIONS AND VALVE PITS. EACH COVER IS TO BEDESIGNED TO SUIT EACH INDIVIDUAL LOCATION AND SIZE. THEALUMINIUM SECTION SIZE AND SEAL ARRANGEMENT MAY BEVARIED TO SUIT INDIVIDUAL MANUFACTURER'S DESIGN BUT MUSTFOLLOW GENERAL PRINCIPLES SETOUT BELOW AND IN THEASSOCIATED DRAWINGS.
2. MATERIAL: THE COVER AND FRAME IS TO BE ALUMINIUM AND TOBE GRADE 6061 T6 AND OR GRADE 5083 H116 TO AS1734 WHERESTAINLESS STEEL IS USED IT IS TO BE TYPE 316 INSULATINGWASHERS, GASKETS OR SEALANT IS TO BE PROVIDED WHERESTAINLESS STEEL IS IN CONTACT WITH ALUMINIUM.
3. PAINTING:3.1. THE TOP SURFACE OF THE COVER IS TO BE PAINTED WITH AN
ANTI-SLIP COATING. THE COLOUR SHALL BE DULUX MISTGREEN 36648 OR EQUIVALENT. THE COATING SHALL BEAPPLIED TO MANUFACTURER'S REQUIREMENTS AND SHALLBE EITHER:* 100% SOLIDS MOISTURE CURING MDI BASEDPOLYURETHANE INCLUDING A CRUMBED RUBBER BINDER(SUCH AS HUNTSMAN DALTOBOND CR2), OR* A LIQUID APPLIED ACRYLIC-POLYURETHANE COMPOSITECOATING INCLUDING A 16/30 CRUMBED RUBBER (SUCH ASNEOFERMA NEOTOP).
3.2. WHERE THE ALUMINIUM FRAME MAY BE IN CONTACT WITHCONCRETE THE ALUMINIUM IS TO BE PAINTED WITH AMINIMUM OF TWO COATS OF BITUMENOUS PAINT OR SEQ-SPSAPPROVED ALTERNATIVE.
4. SAFETY MESH: STAINLESS STEEL SAFETY MESH PANELS ARE TO BEPROVIDED UNDER THE COVERS OVER THE PUMPS. THE SAFETYMESH IS TO BE DESIGNED TO PREVENT A PERSON FROM FALLINGTHROUGH AN OPEN HATCH. THE SAFETY MESH IS TO BE ININDIVIDUAL PANELS OVER EACH SEPARATE PUMP THE MESH MUSTBE EASILY REMOVABLE FROM THE SURFACE. THE MESH IS TO BEFITTED AS CLOSELY AS POSSIBLE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THECOVER TO PROVIDE MAXIMUM CLEARANCE FOR CABLES AND PUMPFITTINGS WITHOUT PROVIDING EXTRA OPENINGS IN THE MESHPANEL. THE MESH IS TO HAVE DIAMETER 6 BARS AT 75 CENTRES.
5. REMOVABLE SUPPORT BEAMS: WHERE MULTI-PART COVERSREQUIRE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT BEAMS THESE BEAMS SHOULD NOTBE PLACED OVER EQUIPMENT REQUIRING REMOVAL SUCH ASVALVES. THESE BEAMS SHOULD BE PROVIDED WITH LIFTING LUGSOR HOLES. THE BEAMS SHOULD BE BOLTED IN PLACE.
6. STRENGTHENING WEBS: ADDITIONAL STRENGTHENING WEBS MAYBE REQUIRED ON THE UNDERSIDE OF COVERS. THE SIZE,LOCATION AND DIRECTION SHOULD BE DESIGNED TO SUIT EACHINDIVIDUAL COVER. ALSO SEE NOTE 18.
7. WEIGHT: EACH SEPARATE COVER SHOULD HAVE A MAXIMUMWEIGHT OF 32 Kg. THE MAXIMUM LIFT AT THE HANDLE IS TO BE NOGREATER THAN 16 Kg.
8. FRAME MOUNTING: THE ALUMINIUM FRAME SHOULD BE GROUTEDIN PLACE USING NON-SHRINK EPOXY GROUT. CAST INSITU FRAMESMAY BE APPROVED BY QUEENSLAND URBAN UTILITIES. SEE NOTE 3FOR PAINTING.
9. HINGES: HINGES MUST BE FLUSH MOUNTED WITH NO TRIPPINGHAZARD. REMOVABLE HINGE GUDGEONS ARE NOT PERMITTED.HINGES SHOULD ALLOW COVER TO ROTATE 180°. THE COVER ISTO BE EASILY REMOVED WHEN IN VERTICAL POSITION ANDCARRIED TO A REMOTE LOCATION. HINGES MUST PROVIDEPOSITIVE LOCKING WHEN COVER IS IN CLOSED POSITION.
10. SEAL: A NEOPRENE RUBBER ODOUR SEAL IS TO BE PROVIDEDUNDER THE COVERS. THE SEAL IS TO BE MOUNTED ON THE COVERAND NOT ON THE FRAME. THE SEAL IS TO BE FIXED TO ALLOWREPLACEMENT. THE SEAL IS NOT TO TAKE THE LIVE AND DEADLOADS OF THE COVER. THE ALUMINIUM COVER IS TO BE SEALWELDED TO COMPLETE THE ODOUR SEAL.
11. LIFTING HANDLES: A RECESSED LIFTING HANDLE IS TO BEPROVIDED ON THE UPPERSIDE OF EACH COVER. THIS HANDLE MAYBE COMBINED WITH THE LATCHING MECHANISM. IN ADDITION AMINIMUM OF TWO LIFTING HANDLES ARE TO BE PROVIDED ON THEUNDERSIDE OF THE COVER. HANDLES ARE TO ALLOW LIFTING BYPERSONS OR ALTERNATIVELY BY TRUCK MOUNTED HOIST.
12. LATCHING MECHANISM: A POSITIVE LOCKING FLUSH MOUNTEDMECHANISM IS TO BE PROVIDED AND IS TO ALLOW THE FITTINGOF A PADLOCK. THE MECHANISM IS ALSO TO PROVIDE A POSITIVESET TO THE ODOUR SEAL. THE RECESSED HANDLE AND LOCK IS TOBE PROVIDED WITH A HINGED FLAP WITH A SCREWDRIVEROPERATED QUARTER TURN CATCH. THIS FLAP IS TO HAVE ITSHINGE ON THE SIDE OF THE COVER HINGES SO AS TO ALLOW THEFLAP TO FALL OPEN WHEN THE COVER IS OPENED TO THEVERTICAL POSITION.
13. PADLOCK: THE PADLOCKS ARE TO BE KEYED TO QUU 177 ORSEQ-SPS REQUIRED.
14. OPENING SEQUENCE: THE COVERS OVER EACH PUMP MUST BEABLE TO BE OPENED WITHOUT OPENING THE COVERS OVER OTHERPUMPS. THIS MAY REQUIRE A REMOVABLE FRAME SUPPORTACROSS THE OPENING AT A POINT MID-WAY BETWEEN THE PUMPS.TO ALLOW ALL COVERS TO BE OPEN AT THE SAME TIME THECOVERS SHOULD OPEN IN SEQUENCE ACROSS THE WHOLEOPENING. IF THE VACTOR PIPE IS INSTALLED UNDER THESEALUMINIUM COVERS THAN THE FIRST OPENING COVER IS TO BEOVER THE VACTOR PIPE.THE COVERS ARE TO BE NUMBERED IN ORDER. THE PUMP NUMBERAND COVER NUMBER ARE TO BE WELDED ONTO THE TOP SURFACEOF COVER. THE PROJECT DRAWINGS ARE TO INDICATE THESEINSCRIPTIONS. THE MINIMUM TEXT HEIGHT IS TO BE 50 THEORIENTATION OF THE TEXT SHOULD BE SUCH THAT THE TEXT CANBE READ FROM THE SWITCHBOARD.
