Drone Definition

• A Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV or Drone)

• An aircraft with no pilot on board

• Drones can be remote controlled

• Drones can fly autonomously based on pre-programmed flight plans or more complex dynamic automation systems

MAV Definition

• A micro air vehicle, or micro aerial vehicle (MAV)

• A class of UAV or Drone

• Size is small enough to be transported and used by a single-person

Types of MAVs

• Fixed-wing (airplane-like)

• Rotary-wing (helicopter-like)

• Ornithopter (bird-like flapping), and

• Entomopters (insect-like flapping)

MAV Group Assignments

• Time limit: 30 minutes

• Task (today): Create a PowerPoint presentation of the assigned topic, and submit it by the end of the period

• Task (tomorrow): Each group will make a 5-minute presentation

• Grade: Based on your PowerPoint, presentation and note
