Dr. Laba established his practice in the Annapolis Valley after completing his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency in 1983. He became an integral leader in all aspects of the community offering a level of patient care that was, by all accounts, superlative. He tragically died in 1989, but his legacy and influence on the greater dental community lives on. Le  Caveau,  Domaine  de  Grand  Pre  Winery  Listed  as  one  of   the  “20  Best  Winery  Restaurants   in   the  World”  by  Wine  Access  magazine,  Le  Caveau  never  disappoints.    Chef  Jason  Lynch  and  his  team  will  provide  a  stunning  four-­‐course  meal  accompanied  by  award-­‐winning  wines  for  our  continuing  education  event.    The  evening  will  begin  with  a  meet  and  mingle  with  wine  and  canapés   in   the  wine  tasting  area,   followed  by  the  CE  presentation  and  meal  in  the  restaurant.

In   addition   to   our   presenters,   the  Annapolis   Valley   Dental   Society   is  pleased   to   welcome   guests   from   the  Dalhousie   Faculty   of   Dentistry:     Dr   Tom  Boran,   Dean;   Jon   Bruhm,   Alumni   Officer,  and   Victoria   Colpitts,   Development  Officer.      

Come   out   and   hear   what   is   new   at  Dalhousie   and   celebrate   the   important  role   that   it   plays   in   our   profession.   The  next  day,  take  in  the  continuing  education  course   at   Acadia   University,   co-­‐sponsored   by   Dal   Dentistry   and   the  Annapolis   Valley   Dental   Society.   A   great  way  to  round  out  the  weekend!  

Our  CE  presentation…    “The  Benefit  of  Going  

Global”  Last   year,   Dalhousie   Faculty   of  Dentistry   students   Ben   Lawlor  and   Heather   Patry,     along  with   5  of   their   dental   school   peers,  organized   a   trip   to   Guatemala  where   they   worked   with   a   non-­‐profit   group   to   provide   limited  dental   care   to   the   local   people.    They  will   share   their  experiences  with   us,   outlining   the   many  challenges   they   faced,   and   the  impact   the   trip   had   on   them   as  future  leaders  in  our  profession.
