The DrillSIM range of conventional drilling and well control simulators developed and manufactured by Drilling Systems are advanced training solutions designed to meet the training requirements of Operators, Drilling Contractors, Service Companies, Training Schools and University Petroleum Engineering Schools in both onshore and offshore operational environments.

Applicable to entry level or advanced engineering skills training, DrillSIM can be used to instruct individuals or complete drill crews, as well as for internationally recognised well control certifi cation. The DrillSIM-5000 full-size simulator is ideal for training personnel in equipment operation and advanced drilling and well control engineering techniques, while the portable versions provide cost-effi cient alternatives, where

training budgets or facilities are limited.

Both the DrillSIM-50 and DrillSIM-20 portables are suitable for airline check-in, with a roving Instructor.

Keeping up with modern day rig designs, the DrillSIM-6000 simulator is targetted at mechanised pipehandling, drilling and well control. (see separate brochure for DrillSIM-6000 information)

The same downhole mathematical model is used across the DrillSIM range, therefore the scope of simulation is the same for each. Simulator exercises (snapshots) can be moved from one simulator to another, ensuring true portability and fl exibility.

All the DrillSIM well control simulators meet the industry standards set by the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) in Houston, USA and the International Well Control Forum (IWCF) in Montrose, Scotland.

Gaining accreditation from these organisations requires several key elements of which the simulator is just one. Further information on this process can be obtained direct from the IADC and IWCF.

Subsea BOP Subsea Diverter

The DrillSIM-5000 comes equipped with a range of simulated consoles, equipment and manifolds closely resembling those found on a drilling rig fl oor. Typically, the consoles are manufactured using the same controls and instrumentation as used in operating fi eld consoles. Within the simulation environment, realism is further enhanced by the use of electronically generated sound effects, which are fully synchronised, with the various operational activities of the simulator. The simulator is supplied in the base package, with optional extras depending on the training needs.
