1.0 General
1.1 Purpose
WOODCO USA presents this catalog to provide useful information about WOODCO USA Load Testing of Lifting Equipment.
1.2 Application
WOODCO USA Load Testing confirms that design, materials, and workmanship of new equipment meet intended load ratings.
Load Testing of used or repaired equipment demonstrates that equipment still has the ability to lift or retain the rated capacity.
1.3 Reference Standards
API Spec 8C
WOODCO USA Load Tester yearly calibration meets or exceeds requirements stipulated in API Spec 8C for Drilling and Production Hoisting Equipment.
1.4 Quality
API Spec 8C
WOODCO USA defines “Product Quality” as conformance to specified requirements. We provide Load Testing services which conform to WOODCO USA and industry specifications
WOODCO USA offers load testing of Lifting Equipment to 1.5 times rated capacity, giving users the confidence that tested units will support the rated capacity.
Load Test of Tubing, Drill Pipe, and Casing Elevators exactly duplicates the load conditions on the rig, hanging from Elevator Links with the load applied to the intended bearing point of the equipment.
Calibration frequency complies with that specified in API 8C, and is measured over the full range of machine capacity, 30 to 900 tons.
Caution:
Users should never perform field welding on any portion of Lifting Equipment. Field welding may crack or otherwise degrade the properties of the material. For other cautions, and recommendations for in-service field inspections, see API RP 8B.
1.5 Convenience
WOODCO USA makes Load Testing of Elevators and Spiders fast and convenient. Easy loading and unloading, and document creation, makes for rapid turnaround.
By special arrangement, new lifting equipment may be qualified using WOODCO USA. Manufacturers or consultants may arrange to use the WOODCO USA Load Test equipment while conducting strain gauge testing or other research or investigation projects.
