It is viewed as an obsessive, semi legal competition amongst the youth. This causes a concern for public due to the safety issues involved in this kind of dangerous sport. As there isn’t a special place to carry out drifting, Saudi youth rush to public roads and highways making it dangerous for common people to travel. It is supposed to have been started 30 years ago but has become very popular in the recent years. Saudi Government is adopting new policies to control this extreme sport due to the increase in the number of fatalities recently. Fatalities due to drifting were previously called as “accidents” but now are referred to as “criminal negligence” under stricter laws. 2. Why do Saudi Youth do it? The major reason for these young people to indulge in drifting is “Boredom”. They simply have nothing else to do. Apart from boredom, there are several factors which fuel this kind of addictions. 3. Issues with DriftingWHO has recognized Saudi Arabia to have the most number of road accidents in the World. Over the past two decades Saudi Arabia has recorded 4 million traffic accidents, leading to about 86,000 deaths

and 611,000 injuries. Most of these deaths in recent years have been connected to drifting and road stunts.
