IMPROVE YOUR CAREER PROSPECTSSTUDY IN GERMANY

Û TECHNISCHE UNIVERSITÄT DRESDEN (TUD)

The Technische Universität Dresden has its roots in the Royal Saxon Technical School that was founded in 1828.

Today it is the largest »Technische Universität« in Germany and one of the leading and most dynamic universities in

Germany. As a full-curriculum university with 14 faculties in fi ve schools it offers a broad variety of 125 disciplines and

covers a wide research spectrum. Since 2012 TUD has offi cially been one of the German »Universities of Excellence«.

Û DRESDEN INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY (DIU)

Dresden International University was established in April 2003 aiming to provide postgraduate studies with a strong

connection to professional application. Currently approx. 2.600 students are registered in 38 courses of studies.

About 33% of these students are foreigners. Since its foundation DIU has intensifi ed its international activities in order

to attract foreign students to study in Dresden.

The specifi c position of the DIU in the scene of private universities lies in its strategic partnership with a big well-known

state university – the Technische Universität Dresden. Due to this fact a wide, multi disciplinary range of courses can

be offered. Most of DIU’s lecturers are Professors of TUD who enrich the lectures with their expertise. DIU is nowadays

an associated institute of TUD.

Û TECHNISCHE UNIVERSITÄT DRESDEN INSTITUTE OF ADVANCED STUDIES (TUDIAS)

Founded in 1999, Technische Universität Dresden Institute of Advanced Studies has its focus especially in the context

of language training. With its private Preparatory College (Studienkolleg) the TUDIAS language school prepares foreign

students for studying at German universities or colleges. Moreover, in a very successful cooperation with the Tech-

nische Universität Dresden TUDIAS is responsible for course-related language training of TUD-students. DIU-students

appreciate the TUDIAS language courses as a good preparation for their studies or for daily life in Dresden.

LOGISTICS, MBALogistics represents a key success factor of today's enterprises, as excel-

lent logistics – in addition to reducing costs and realizing time savings –

essentially contributes to customer satisfaction and therefore the revenue

side of the business.

A comprehensive development of new logistical potential for success in the

enterprise and network practice requires excellent logistic and management

skills. In many companies, however, a lack of highly qualifi ed professionals

with extensive logistic expertise can be increasingly determined.

The MBA programme is bridging this gap by teaching prospective leaders in

this fi eld. It is successfully conducted in close cooperation with Techni sche

Universität Dresden (TUD). TUD is the degree-awarding university, while

the programme itself is realised by DIU. Furthermore, since 2008 this pro-

gramme has been the fi rst and the only one in Germany which is accredited

by the European Logistics Association (ELA ).

NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING, M. SC.Non-destructive testing (NDT) is increasingly gaining importance to sustain

quality with either new or existing products and infrastructure. This is not just

limited to the highly industrialised societies but rather also to those emer ging

in terms of technology, industrialisation and economy. NDT has therefore

become an essential need on a fully international basis.

The programme is tailored towards an advanced specialization in mechani-

cal, electrical and civil engineering and can lead to highly promising profes-

sional careers. Successful graduates will get qualifi ed to start their career

in a variety of very different companies dealing with transportation, energy

(nuclear included), chemical processing, micro and nanoelectronics as well

as in institutions of public security. Furthermore, each student can apply for a

special certifi cate of the German Society of Non-Destructive Testing (DGZfP).

INDUSTRIAL MANAGEMENT IN MICROELECTRONICS, M. SC.The production of micro and nanoelectronic circuits and devices is a rapidly

developing area with a high gradient of innovation. There are two challenges

a leading engineer of chip and processor production is facing:

Û to be familiar with the latest developments in semiconductor technology

and

Û to be able to organize the logistics of a rapidly changing production of

circuits and devices with respect to both an effi cient and low-costpro-

duction as well highest yields and quality.

Neither a manager nor an electronic engineer alone will be able to meet both

requirements in suffi cient quality. Therefore, DIU launches the new Master’s

programme »Industrial Management in Microelectronics«.

It refl ects the complexities and discovers the synergies by combining the

competencies of engineers with those of managers in this fi eld. The pro-

gramme is presenting a modern specialisation, preferably for electronic engi-

neers, and leads to promising professional perspectives. Practical exercises

are taking place in laboratories of TU Dresden.

INTERNATIONAL COMMERCIAL & CONTRACT MANAGEMENT, MBACommercial success is the main objective of any business enterprise. In

order to ensure this, it is particularly important that projects be planned,

implemented and handed over to the customer in a professional and

target-oriented way. Essential elements in this process are the tendering and

bidding phase, the contract phase, the planning and execution phase, and

fi nally the warranty phase. Commercial and Contract Management require

an interdisciplinary approach and thus the MBA programme provides stu-

dents with legal, economic and managerial expertise to manage contracts

successfully.

The MBA has been developed in collaboration with an advisory board com-

prised of the world's leading global associations (IACCM and VDMA), con-

sultants (CMS, Hill International, PWC) and companies in different industries

(Bombardier, GE, Linde, SAP).
