Drawing North Symbol1. Purpose and description

Creates new symbol on drawing and manages the rotation to match the project northsettings.

2. System requirements

.NET Framework version: 4.0

Environments: US Imperial, US Metric

Languages: English

3. Installation

To install the extension:

1. Close down Tekla Structures (if running)

2. Download MSI Installer from Tekla extranet

3. Install and run MSI Installer

4. Start up Tekla Structures

5. Open an existing drawing

6. Drag and dock the new toolbar

4. Usage

To use the extension:

1. From the drawings > from the new toolbar run either plugin

2. Select a point anywhere in the drawing or drawing view

4.1. North Settings

Under the main Tekla Structures Menu for Tools > Options > Options: Orientation marks, setthe North direction field to measure from the x-axis the degrees to point north for the project.

4.2. Symbol Setup

Import your north symbol into the symbol editor and orientate so that north is up on screen,as shown below.

5. Settings

Create new symbol setting files that use the symbol file where the north graphic is located.You might want several new setting files if you have text as part of the symbol that needs tobe positioned different relative to the symbol. In such cases, you might need multiplesymbols in the same file, but different cell positions. You need these saved attribute files forsymbols in order to be able to reference them in the plugin.

6. Limitations

This extension is intended to be used only on plan drawings.
