Leopards are brilliant climbers and they love trees. They often hide out in the branches looking for prey and will even drag it up a tree to stop other scavengers, like hyenas, from stealing it.

WOW! Leopards are so strong, they have been known to drag small giraffes up trees.
4Leopards sleep up trees or in caves by day and they hunt by night. Their main prey is antelope, deer, monkeys and warthogs, but they’re also good swimmers and will eat crabs, fish, reptiles, birds, rodents and insects, such as dung beetles.
True! Leopard can go for several days without drinking water. They get most of the moisture they need from their prey.
Leopards can’t change their spots, but their markings differ depending on where they live. Their spots can be square, round, light or dark – whatever gives them the best camouflage.
Leopards are smaller than lions, tigers and jaguars, but they are the most adaptable and widespread of the big cats. Though they live mainly in Africa, you can also find them in parts of Asia.
Though leopards can roar, they’re more likely to bark. They can purr too!
Rainforest leopards are darker in colour than leopards that live in grasslands.
Leopards are famous for being silent, stealthy and secretive hunters. They don’t chase their prey, instead they stalk it and pounce on it. Unfortunately, leopards have predators too, including packs of hyenas, tigers and lions.
Amur leopards in Asia are the rarest big cats of all and they are critically endangered.
