Dramatic Entrance What's With All The Drama? Drama club was a new club where students came who were interested in all aspects of theater. It was a place to have fun, play improv games, learn stage makeup techniques, and design costumes. People came to learn things that they could not learn in drama class, one act, and musical. I realized I didn t have a way to get word to kids for drama camps, said English teacher, Kiley Luchsinger. I feel like drama isn t as big as it should be in Gretna because we only have one drama class. In drama club, the members played several improv games such as Director , Freeze , and Four chairs which helped them reach out of their comfort zone and become more confident. I really like how we play all the improv games because at first, people were hesitant and weren t quite ready to join and now I see people race up, said senior, Kelsey Schoon. The game Director , was a game where the members were given a scene and a different setting and were told to act out the scene in the given setting. In the game Freeze , they improvised different scenes and when someone wanted to change the scene they yelled Freeze! and replaced someone in the exact position and continued on with a different scene. In the game Four chairs , there were four chairs and a continuous changing scene just like the game freeze. I hope we get a lot more people, because drama club keeps on growing and growing, and it is a great club to be in. said senior, Kelsey Schoon. As the club grew bigger and bigger, according to Kelsey Schoon, Mrs. Luchsinger was hopeful that the drama department would expand. If the club is successful hopefully kids will sign up for more drama classes and we can expand on the drama department, said Mrs. Luchsinger. -Megan Monismith Drama Club members, Sam Knihal (16), Erick Simmons (17), Ben Pearson (15), and Shelby Jones( 16) stood in a circle with other club members and practiced a group exercise reciting lines in different tones and accents.
