This product manual contains the description, manufacturing, and testing of Horizontal Centrifugal

Pumps for clear, Cold water-specification. Part 1 Agricultural and Rural water supply purposes

as per IS 6595(Part 1):2002. Guidelines for Grant of licence for an applicant is also described in this

manual. Grouping guidelines, sample size for testing, information about laboratories where the product

can be got tested for the purpose of Grant of Licence etc. are described in the manual for the easiness of

a new applicant as well as existing licensee.

Section I: Product Description

Description of product

Centrifugal pump is a kind of machinery used for pumping water through the centrifugal

movement, which is composed of pump casing, impeller, shaft, pump frame and other components.

Generally, centrifugal pumps are high discharge, low pressure generating pumps.To increase the

pressure generated it is setup in stages wherein pressure increases from one stage to other. Mostly seen

in daily life applications such as pumps for water tankers. Even emergency fire fighter vehicles use these

type of pumps. These are called dynamic or non-positive displacement pumps.

Marking fee rate:

The following rates of marking fee is applicable for a licencee:

i) Rate of marking fee:

Unit-1 Pump

Rs 5.30 for all units

ii) Minimum marking fee Rs. 29000. (for Small Scale Industries) / Rs 34000.(for Large Scale

Industries) for one operative year payable in advance which will be carried to next renewals.

iii) Actual marking fee for the first nine months of the operative period calculated on unit rate basis on

the production marked or the minimum marking fee whichever is higher shall be payable by the

licencee.

Grouping Guideline:-

For getting a new licence an applicant should get the sample tested each variety separately.

Guideline for writing scope of licence:-

Scope of licence may be written as " Horizontal centrifugal pumps for handling clear, cold water for

agriculture and rural water supply purposes”.

Guidelines for inclusion of new varieties :-

For getting a variety included in the existing licence a licensee should get the sample (as per sample

size) of each variety, proposed for inclusion, tested.

Manner of sealing the sample:

Sample may be preferably packed in wooden/Hard card board with base of the pump properly mounted.

Whether remnants of the sample are returnable/non-returnable: Returnable

Procedure to be followed for destroying the product that does not meet the quality

parametrers during regular production :

To be scrapped

Packing material requirement (to be available in factory at all times) for

packing/dispatch of samples :

In case of short distance the pumpsets are dispatched in loose condition. However in case of far off

places, the pumpsets are dispatched, appropriately packed in a strong wooden box by rigidly mounting

its base plate with fasteners.
