* 'Gta Jayanti' is the anniversary of the Ekda day when the BhagavadGita was first recited by Sajaya to Dh tar ra. This was 11 days after Lord K a had privately spoken it to His intimate devotee Arjuna on thebattlefield of Kuruk etra, at Jyotisha Tirtha, Kurukshetra District, HaryanaState, India, 51 centuries ago.

* 'Ekda' occurs twice every lunar month. It is the Eleventh Day of thewaxing moon and the Eleventh Day of the waning moon (eka=1, das=10).Lord Vi u created the Goddess Ekda to control Ppa-puru a (Sinpersonified). "Whoever does not eat grains on Ekda is freed from allsins and never enters into hellish regions." - Padma Pur a, Chapter 14,Kriya-sgara-sra

* Mokshad Ekda is the 11 th day of the waxing moon inthe lunar month of Mrgasrsa (usually Nov/Dec) of the Pc gam(Vedic Calendar ) whereas Vaiku ha Ekda or Guruvyur Ekda appears in the Tamil Calendar on the 11 th day of the waning moonwhich occurs in the Vedic solar month of Dhanus (Sagittarius, or Mrgazhi in Tamil). In some years, the dates for both events will coincide,but in other years, they will fall exactly one lunar month apart.
