God Desires His Children to Walk in His Truth How is Doctrine Profitable to the Believer? Avoiding False Teaching God Expects us to increase our learning
beyond the elementary principles of Faith How is Doctrine Framed and What are the
Basic Doctrinal Principles? Does our relationship with the Father has
anything to do with understanding truth? What does it mean when it says, “Rightly
Dividing the Word of Truth” A Tale of Two Societies

The word doctrine comes from the Greek word didache: "teaching." A doctrine is a belief (or system of beliefs) accepted as authoritative.
In most religions, certain doctrines are considered essential to the belief system. Doctrine constitutes the core of our faith.
A particular principle, position, or teaching taught or advocated, as of a religion or government

There is a discernible, growing trend to move away from the systematic teaching of doctrine in churches that claim to be
Bible-believing. However, what you know of the scriptures and principles of God is essential to your faith.
I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the
Father. 2 John 1:4
Walking in truth shows we are walking with the LordJesus said, “Thy Word is Truth” (John 17:17)It is difficult to walk in the truth if we do not know the truthGod orders your steps through His Word

The Bible goes to great lengths to warn us about false teachers, error, and destructive doctrines
Those who have relationship with God embrace God’s truth through His Word. The World has no desire to know the total truth of the Word of God. (1st John 4:6) – They live in Error
We are exhorted not to allow or encourage anyone to bring a different doctrine outside of the doctrine of Christ. Yet we do this so frequently in our daily Christian lives (2 John 1:10,11)

The Early Church continued daily in the Apostles’ teachings, fellowship, communion and prayer (Acts 2:42)o Continued: adhered to; attended to
o Continued steadfastly uses a Greek verb communicating "a steadfast and single-minded fidelity to a certain course of action." (Longenecker) There was to be no departure from the apostles' doctrine, because it was the truth of God.

We are expected to grow spiritually which is directly related to our understanding of the truth

He does not expect us to remain “Babes’ in our understanding
Are you walking towardsPerfection?

Every Wind of Doctrine – Ephesians 4:14 – Unstable; changing doctrine
Sound Doctrine (1st Tim 4:6; 2 Tim 4:3) – Doctrine of Faith; healthful doctrine; Doctrine contributing to the health of the soul, or to salvation.
Doctrine of Devils (1st Tim 4:1) - Ambiguity of this kind in the construction of words.o Satan works to re-construct or mis-represent God’s Word since the garden,
then with Christ, and now with believerso Also involved those who taught would hypocritically speak what they knew
to be falsehood, having their own consciences searedo Timothy was to warn the churches against trifling and superstitious views,
such as the apostle calls "old wives' fables
Different Doctrines - Teaches which tries to replace the teaching of God's word with a focus on "prophecies" and "visions" and strange spiritual experiences people claim.

Scripture: The Bible bears witness to the revelatory actions of God. (2 Peter 1:19-21)o 2 Timothy 3:16: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is
profitable for doctrine……..o Scripture may, however, become bound to tradition. The church may
become a servant to and rely only on inherited interpretations of Scripture.
Experience - A person has doctrine before being able to read and interpret Scripture. This comes through experience as an individual and as a part of a church communityo Experience is not the most important factor in shaping or guaranteeing
the truth of doctrine.o We must always guard against absolutizing our experience
Intellect - The church has framed the canon, creeds, and confessions as a means of giving coherent interpretation to the witness of the earliest church.o The exaggeration of the intellectual factor can also pervert doctrine and Mystery is
difficult to explain logicallyCreated by Practical Living Ministry

Participation in worship may be the most significant factor in the formulation of Christian doctrine. In worship the Spirit of God brings personal experience and leads the intellect to understand Scripture.
Keep in mind that there are some things in the Bible that are truly stated, but not necessarily a statement of trutho Job said, “The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.’o Some things in the bible happened historically and have a
historical reference, but we cannot build a doctrine upon it. Intellectual Study of the Word has one major flaw:
It’s limited to one’s intellect. That’s why there is never agreement among scholars when it comes to the Word of God.Created by Practical Living Ministry

We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us. By this
we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. 1 John 4:6
Those who have relationship with God have no problem with the Word or Commandments of God
Through relationship with have greater insight and understanding as we come to know the true writer personally

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing
the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)
Rightly dividing has the idea of "cutting straight"; to divide right; to rectify; to properly proportion God’s Word and serve to His people
Finding out the necessities of his hearers, and preaching so as to meet those necessities.
The Bible does not mean just what anyone wants it to mean.
