1. About COMPTECH REVOLUTION 2k14:

COMPTECH REVOLUTION 2k14 is one of the institute’s technical fiesta which is organized by Computer Science and Engineering Department, DJMIT. Computer Science and Engineering Department

organized this event on the occasion of Software Freedom Day which is celebrated world-wide by all the

technical universities’ and Companies to promote Free Software for the benefit of students. This event was

organized to lighten the minds off young students and events in which students from all the branch of 7

different colleges consisting of our own College Dr. Jivarj Mehta Institute of Technology Participated.

This event aimed to engage students from engineering institute to compete in technical and non-

technical events, cultivate team spirit, devoting and developing a healthy competitive environment.

COMPTECH REVOLUTION 2k14 was in association with Open Source Technological Club-Gujarat

Technological University, Spoken-Tutorials and IIT Bombay. It was a two days technical Fiesta dated on 19th

and 20th

of September, 2014.

Around 360 plus students from seven different College’s participated in the event. First Day event

consisted of 4 Technical and 4 Non-Technical events with some Fun events. On second Day a Seminar on

Data Mining Tools and Techniques was conducted by Dr. Premal J. Patel, Head of Computer Engineering

Department, IIET-Dharmaj, Second Session was taken on Web Hosting by Asst. Prof. Arpit Mehta, Head of

Computer Science and Engineering Department, DJMIT and third session was conducted by Rahil Shah and AmisteshSharam, Alumni’s of DJMIT.

COMPTECH REVOLUTION 2k14 got a grand success as it lighten students mind and allowed them

to learn new things of both technical and non-technical sides. It also helped students to learn how to interact

in professional environment and how to showcase their talents in front of students and faculties of different

department or fields.

2. Inauguration Ceremony:

The Inauguration ceremony began with a welcome speech By Asst. Prof. AnuThosmas, Computer

Science and Engineering department, DJMIT and SaraswatiVandana& lighting of the lamp in hands of

Welcome and Introductory Speech on COMPTECH REVOLUTION 2k14.

Respected Principal Archana S. Nanoty Madam delivered speech in which she appreciated the efforts put

into by all COMPTECH REVOLUTION team members. She also address about Software Freedom Day and

wished COMPTECH REVOLUTION to be a successful event.

Speech By Principal Madam After the address of Principal Madam, all the Dignitaries, Faculty Members, Students and Participants sang National Anthem.

5. Event Details

DAY 1: 19th

September,2014

A. Event Name: Brain Storming

Type : Individual Event Round 1(Paper Presentation)

Students had to prepare a paper and had to present it.

Maximum Time limit for presentation was 7 min.

3 Min. Question/Answer Round.

Technical and Non-technical both papers were

presented. Round 2 (Group Discussion)

3 group discussion topics were given to the participant on the spot and had to represent it.

B. Event Name : Google Hunt Type : Individual Event Round 1: Q&A Googling

It was a technical treasure hunt event.

Participants were given 30 question which answer they had to search using GOOGLE.

Time limit of 15 min. was given.

The participants who accurately found the answer before time limit were qualified to 2nd

round. Round 2: Googling Clue

40 % participants got qualified to 2nd

round.

In this round pictures where given to the participants which were made complicated. They had to search it on net to whom or which company the pictures represented.

C. Event Name: Coders Type: Individual Event

As we all know now a day students of each and every field wants to learn about how to make a website and this event was focused on the same.

In this event students had to make website by the templates provided to them.

An hour time was given to each student to make a website.

The participant who made the most efficient and attractive and simple to understand website was declared as the winner.

D. Event Name: Looping Controls Type: Individual Event Round 1: C/C++ Ques& Ans.

C/C++ are the basic language which every student in engineering field should know.

So to improve knowledge regarding to C/C++ this event was organized.

round was ques/Ans round in which question related to C/C++ were asked like regarding to error debugging and history related.

Round 2: Coding

50% students qualified to 2nd

round of the event.

In this round aim of the program was given to the students and time limit was allotted to them.

The participant who correctly executed the program before time was declared as the winner.

E. Event Name: Ozone Type: Group Event

Each round was elimination round.

The winning team will head for the next round to compete with the winners of the same round to advance to the finals.

The final round would be held as the best of three.

F. Event Name: Friends-O-Mania Type: Group Event Round 1: Friends Quiz.

There was an aptitude related friendship quiz.

1 participant from the group of three was selected and had to answer the test first.

After that other two participants test were taken and answer where matched.

Maximum answered matched group qualified for the 2nd

round. Round 2: Treasure Hunt

One has to find the object from the lots from the campus.

7 teams got qualified for the final round of the

event. Round 3: Super Maze

This round was final round for the participants who will be qualified for this round.

Two participants where showing the direction to the blinded folded participant to reach the destination.

G. Event Name: Minesweeper Type: Individual Event. Round 1: Logo Quiz

A game which we play on mobile of logo quiz for brought to reality.

Different logo were given to participants and they had to find out of which company or product the particular logo is of.

11 participant qualified for the 2nd

round.

Round 2: Cryptography

Now a days gate exam question answers come on whatsapp and other social application.

So to get a good knowledge regarding gate question this round was design.

30 questions were given to the participants and they had to solve them in the given time limit.

H. Fun2Masti Type: Individual

It was a on the spot fun event in which all the participants as well as students could participate.

In this event a physical task was assigned which had to be completed in 1 min. time duration.

DAY 2: 20th

September,2014

Dr. Jivraj Mehta Institute of Technology has established GTU Open Source Technologies Club (OSTC) under which we had organized seminars on open source technology .

Gujarat Technological University has introduced Open Source Technologies Club initiative for all the colleges in

collaboration with Spoken Tutorial Project-IIT Bombay. To take the advantage of this opportunity, Open Source

Technologies Club (OSTC) has been established at Dr. Jivraj Mehta Institute of Technology.

Dr. Jivraj Mehta Institute of Technology celebrated Software Development Day on 20th

September, 2014. On this

occasion different seminars related to open source technology were conducted in the Institute.

The inaugural function started with a warm welcome of HonourableDirector Rahul Joshi SirRespected Principal Prof.

Dr. Archana NanotyMadam,Guest speaker Dr. Premal J. Patel, Head of Computer Science and Engineering

Department. This was followed by felicitation of Principal Madam, chief guest and Head of Computer Science and

Engineering Department. An awareness speech about Software Freedom Day was given by Hemil Shah (5th

, CSE) and

Milan Patel (5th

,CSE). Which was followed by an awareness speech of the program initiative given by Respected

Principal Madam. Director Rahul Joshi Sir also gave a speech regarding the seminar and wished luck for the success of

the event.

First Session of the Seminar was on Data Mining Tools and Techniques which was taken by Dr. Premal J. Patel.

Second Session of the Seminar was on Web Hosting which was taken by Head of Computer Science and Engineering

Department Asst. Prof. Arpit Mehta. Third Session was on OSTC Carrier and Success which was taken by Alumni

Students of Computer Science and Engineering Department, DJMIT Amitesh Sharma and Rahil Shah.

After all the seminars were finished an online test for the students of Computer Science and Engineering Department was taken by Spoken-Tutorial IIT Bombay and digital certificates were given by Spoken Tutorial IIT BOMBAY.

9. Vote of Thanks

Vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Arpit Mehta (HOD-CSE) on 19/09/2014. We concluded

the inaugural function with National Anthem. On 20/09/2014, we had prize distribution

ceremony in the joyous presence of our Respected Principal Dr. Archana S. Nanoty Madam

and Head Of Computer Science and Engineering Department Mr. Arpit Mehta Sir.
