IntroductionThe problem we face in getting the gospel to the world hasbecome an overwhelming task. Our fathers, as well as we, have failed to heed the command of Jesus to pray for laborersto go into God’s harvest, Matt. 9:37-38. We must obey thatcommand now with earnestness and sincerity.
Our world now has near seven billion people of whom themajority live in “closed” countries. These countries areclosed to missionaries so that no matter how manymissionaries there are they will not be able to enter thesecountries as missionaries. And while we thank the Lord forthose who enter “closed” countries as “tent makers” so they will have the opportunity to present the gospel, their ministryis limited. They do not have the freedom to evangelizethrough methods others have in “open” countries.
We want to encourage you to pray three ways to fulfil Matt. 9:37-38
1. Pray for God to continue to call workers from our local churches.2. Pray for God to save and call expatriates (aliens) to take the gospel to their own people.3. For God to raise up laborers in “closed” countries to reach their own people.
We also want to challenge you to pray for each country in theworld each day. It’s possible that your influence on the worlcould exceed that of a missionary in a foreign land. Eternityalone will reveal the impact of faithful prayer worriers. It alsomakes possible that any saved person can have a real ministryin the gospel!!!

Suggestions for PrayingOne of the most difficult responsibilities in the Christian lifis to pray consistently. Prayer, like a diet, is easy to start. The Word of God says a lot concerning prayer. “Pray withoutceasing,” 1 Thes. 5:17. That does not speak of an attitude of prayer, but rather of regularity. Don’t give up! Prayer is notan option. It is a command. “Prayer ye therefore the Lord of the harvest . . . …”
There different ways to pray for the world. Some take a countryeach day. May we suggest that anyone could easily pray forseveral countries each day. Some who are disabled, shut in, or retired could pray for each country of the world each day.
There are other considerations when planning your prayer. The deaf of the world live in another world than we do. They aremocked and harassed by people, especially children, all overthe world. There are groups of people who live within countrieswe refer to as ethnic groups. There are Gypsies in many countries of the world who need to be reached. There are Bible and tract printing ministries who need much prayer.
Most people spend their prayer time praying for the sick. That is a Bible command to pray for the sick and one another and we need to do that. However, we must not neglect the world and onlypray for the sick. The truth is, individuals in our churches know little of the world we are commanded to reach with the gospel. we should be students of geography: learn about the world weare responsible for.
The countries of the world are listed on the last three pages.
