ACE had organized a Video Lecture on “Group Discussion- Importance and Techniques” on 1st

July Friday from 3. 45 PM to 5.00 Pm. This Video Lecture was organized for TE and BE

students to make them aware of the importance of Group Discussions, how to prepare for them,

how to lead them, which are the do’s and don’ts of GD etc.

One video lecture was shown to them followed by two examples of Actual GD conducted in two

companies. This video session was followed by A Classroom Group Discussion Activity.

In the GD Activity, 8 students from both TE and BE had participated. The topic given to them

was “Freedom to Press should exist”.

The winner for this GD were Priya Chhajer ( BE-A Division) and Benjamin (TE- A Division).

Ms Vrushali Kulkarni was invited as Guest Speaker for a Seminar on topic “Application of

Databases in Business World”. This seminar was organized on 5th July 2016 Tuesday from 2.00

PM to 4.00 PM

About the Speaker :

Ms Vrushali Kulkarni has 13+ years of experience in the IT industry. She has worked in

companies like Satyam Computers, IBM and GNS. She has extensive work experience on

AS/400 platform with unique skill combination of AS/400 and Web technologies like J2EE,

Websphere, Java with 4GL Tools like GeneXus. While working on projects, she has received

many customer appreciations and awards. Her paper on ‘Using IBM Toolbox for Java’ was

published in IBM's worldwide document forum. Apart from this, she has also conducted

corporate training on AS/400, GeneXus, and AS/400 with Java.

Points covered:

Business applications and their need

Relationship between IT and the business world

Uses of database across various industries

Live example of car rental application

Walk through the complete process of building application and the database for the same

This seminar was very valuable to TE and BE students and was appreciated a lot by the

students.

Name of the Event : ACE Day Celebration

Organizer: ACE, D.Y. Patil School of Engineering.

Target audience: Students of Computer Engineering Department

Details: Association of Computer Engineering Students have been formed in the year July 2012.

Since the formation of the ACE, students of department have conducted several activities

including Technical Box cricket, Tech Jung, Project competition, Quiz contests etc.

This year, ACE, on its 4th anniversary, take on the responsibility to serve back to the society.

ACE has invited children from SPARSH Balgram. Sparsh Balgram is an orphanage which

upbring HIV infected children from different region of Maharashtra. Mr. Mahesh Yadav and his

wife Mrs. Sujata Yadav were the guest of honour on ACE Day-16. Mr. Mahesh has founded

SPARSH Balgram (Shelter & Rehabilitation Center for HIV/AIDS infected children’s) to serve

the children those are HIV/ADIS infected and thrown out of the society.

It was ACE’s privilege to have him at the Dr.D.Y.Patil SOE Campus on the occasion of ACE

DAY-16. ACE have donated an amount of Rs.20,000/- (Rupees Twenty Thousand only) as a

tribute to SPARSH Balgram. On this occasion, a Film and TV Serial Actor Ashutosh Wadekar

and Rahul Belapurkar have also entertained the audience with their comic act. Children from

SPARSH have enjoyed their skit and laughed right from their heart. ACE Students have

conducted several One-Minute-Games for SPARSH children where they stealed handful

moments of joy and happiness.




Prof. Soumitra Das, Head of Department, Computer Engineering have boosted the confidence of

ACE to conduct such kind of social activities in near future. All the faculties including teaching

and non-teaching staffs have equally contributed for the event’s success. Being a ACE

coordinator its my privilege to show gratitude towards all the students and staff of Computer

Engineering Department to make this event a grand success.
