supervisors, teachers and children), three College of New Jersey faculty members and one
adjunct faculty member, three Kidsbridge staff members, five undergraduate research seminar
students, and several student and community volunteer museum docents.
Educational Equity Center at the Academy for Educational Development (AED). (2005 to 2010).
Raising and Educating Healthy Boys Grant Project. Funding source: AED, New York and
Washington, DC. Grant designed to produce modules for use in higher education classrooms.
Book from this grant published by Teachers College Press in 2010 utilizing research data
collected by Hinitz and her undergraduate students, and other members of the research team.
Children’s Futures (2006-2007). Bilingual Leadership Grant. Funding Source: Children’s
Futures, Trenton, New Jersey. This grant was designed to make graduate course work in early
childhood leadership at TCNJ accessible through outreach to the Spanish-speaking early
childhood leadership group in Trenton and Greater Mercer County, and collaboration with the
Hispanic Directors Association of New Jersey (HDANJ). Students participated in graduate-level
courses on the supervision and administration of early childhood education programs in order to

enhance their supervision skills, and developed leadership strategies and skills. A bilingual
support person was employed and selected portions of the early childhood supervision textbook
were translated into Spanish.
Educational Equity Center at AED. (2002 to 2007). Funding source: AED, New York and
Washington, DC. The Anti-Bullying and Teasing Book for Preschool Classrooms. Grant funded
pilot studies in Trenton, New Jersey early education classrooms and workshops, leading to the
publication of the same name. Numerous workshops and presentations have been given.
Educational Equity Concepts. (2001-2002). Guiding Pre-service Teachers in Techniques for Anti-bullying
and Anti-teasing. Funding source: EEC, New York, NY. The implementation of this grant includes
utilizing the book Quit It! by Sprung & Froschl in the college and public school classroom, student
demonstration lessons on campus, and lessons taught in the Junior Practicum school classroom by TCNJ
students.
State of New Jersey and Education Information and Resource Center (EIRC). A grant for the teaching of
courses in early childhood administration and supervision. I held this grant for twenty two years. Grant
funding for EIRC was eliminated by the State of New Jersey in 2007. Funding source: DHS through
EIRC, Sewell, NJ. Approximately one thousand directors and supervisors of early childhood education
programs all over the world have attended these courses, when they lived in New Jersey.
